Fresh drawings for G.I. Joe characters by artist Tom Reilly have been shown on a new teaser for the second year of the Energon Universe by Skybound Entertainment. Hinting at the forthcoming release of the new G.I. Joe series in November, the teaser highlighted the recent events of the Energon Universe including Void Rivals, Transformers, and the G.I. Joe miniseries.
Tom Reilly's redesigned concepts for the G.I. Joe and Cobra squads combine modern sensibilitiesations with old components. Baroness, who teams with the Joe crew in this new continuity, looks elegant and modern. Duke keeps his classic tan shirt but has a more noticeable green accent. Cover Girl gets a makeover featuring a chic black turtneck under her bomber jacket and longer blonde hair.
Intrigues are piqued by a mystery character on the G.I. Joe #1 cover sporting a suit and a repeating weapon. The quick-draw skill suggested by the character's palm covers points to an Old West link. A complex bird design accompanying the character suggests possible Indigenous background. Given that atonement among the Japanese Yakuza is a custom, the absent pinky finger on this character's hand opens fascinating opportunities. Still, the importance of this nuance is yet unclear.
The bad guys also get a facelift; Cobra Commander wears a traditional blue costume with crimson accent. Destro's revised wardrobe reflects his classic style and calls for a formal crimson suit. Tomax and Xamot, the Crimson Twins, choose matching clothing that modernize their traditional patterns. Though the specifics of the G.I. Joe's crossover with Transformers inside the Energon Universe remain unknown, it is obvious that both teams will be looking sharp when they square off.
Set to premiere on November 13th from Skybound Entertainment, G.I. Joe #1 looks to be the biggest introduction of the Energon Universe yet. The show will introduce the Real American Heroes into the shared universe, therefore creating exciting encounters between Transformers and other characters. With its emphasis on fights, alliances, and survival, the Energon Universe is ready to provide a unique perspective on both G.I. Joe and Transformers, so writing a new chapter in the history of two much-loved series.
The plot of the Energon Universe keeps developing; Optimus Prime finds it difficult to guide the Autobots toward triumph. As the Autobots and Decepticons resume their conflict on Earth, Cybertron's future is yet unknown. New alliances arise, battle lines are reinterpreted, and Optimus Prime holds the sole chance of survival for mankind. Fans of both Transformers and G.I. Joe will be enthralled by this multifarious and dynamic universe because of its intriguing narrative full of action, mystery, and unanticipated alliances.
