Team Up in "Ultraman: Along Came a Spider" Ultraman and Spider-Man
The legendary Ultraman from Tsuburaya Productions will be teaming with Spider-Man from Marvel Comics in a forthcoming manga called "Ultraman: Along Came a Spider." Japanese creators lead this crossover initiative, with Marvel helping to strengthen Ultraman partnerships. While print copies will be published in summer 2025, the Viz Media app will have the first two chapters accessible on August 13th.
The Crosswalk Information
To bring this comic to reality Viz Media, Tsuburaya Productions, and Marvel have teamed together. Known for his work on several "Sword Art Online" manga, Tomo Hirakawa will be illustrating the series; Shigennobu Matsumoto, a writer for "Duel Masters," will pen the tale. The synopsis of "Ultraman: Along Came a Spider" shows a struggle whereby Doctor Doom and Spider-Man find themselves in Ultraman's reality. There they cooperate to beat Doctor Doom, who has teamed with Mefilas and other monsters in order to pilfers Ultraman's power.
Growing Global Profile of Ultraman
"Along Came a Spider" is only one of several current initiatives meant to raise Ultraman's profile abroad. With preview artwork including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel, it was revealed in 2023 Ultraman would be partnering with the Avengers in "Ultraman x Avengers". August 14th is also set aside for this crossover launch.
Starting with Netflix's 2019 adaptation of Eiichi Shimizu's manga, which presents a timeline where new heroes don changing power armor, the Ultraman franchise has been gathering traction on worldwide media channels. Earlier this month, Netflix also debuted "Ultraman: Rising," which drew good reviews. But "Along Came a Spider" presents Ultraman and his cosmos more conventionally.
Marvel's Adopval of the Tokusatsu Genre
Although the partnership between Ultraman and Spider-Man may appear odd, Marvel has a past of including Tokusatsu allusions into its works. Spider-Man notably got his own Tokusatsu TV show in 1978. The next manga will let Japanese artists reinterpret Doctor Doom and Spider-Man, therefore offering a fresh viewpoint on two venerable characters. Another interesting decision is including Doctor Doom, a villain who hardly shows outside of Comics despite his popularity. Whether your taste is for Ultraman or Marvel, "Ultraman: Along Came a Spider" is certain to be August's highlight.
