A New Sorcerer Supreme Emerges: The Triumph and Torment of Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom has officially taken over the title of Sorcerer Supreme, shocking fans of Marvel Comics! This monumental change happened after Doctor Strange chose to step down to give Doom the power to fight the vampire invasion in the latest "Blood Hunt" storyline. It's an unusual move for sure and it left Doctor Strange feeling defeated - a bad situation that everyone's worried about. This wild shift is what makes "Doctor Strange #18" super captivating and leaves everyone with a million questions. But how did Doctor Doom become Sorcerer Supreme? We're looking into the weirdest, most power-hungry moments from Doctor Doom's comic history to figure it out!
This issue dives right into the fallout of Doctor Doom's ascension! With Doctor Doom running the show, things are gonna get intense. You can see that Strange is full of self-doubt, especially when he was pretty confident about being Sorcerer Supreme. You know what happens when someone gets bigheaded? Yeah, they get dethroned.
Doom's Magical Family History: How It All Began
To understand how Doom rose to Sorcerer Supreme, we need to talk about his crazy life! If you know anything about Doctor Doom, you already know he's an intimidating guy. His mother was really good with magic. It turns out those skills got passed down to him! This superb witch also tragically passed away when Doom was young, which might explain Doom’s serious dedication to magical learning, as well as a touch of power-hungry determination that only fuels the desire for greater magic. He is always searching for ways to undo a lot of wrongs.
In "Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment" in 1989, Doctor Doom almost became Sorcerer Supreme, so this victory is actually years in the making. I have a feeling this could be a really significant turning point in the whole comic universe!
Doctor Doom, a Scientist, a Sorcerer... and Now Sorcerer Supreme!
If you ask anyone who knows Doctor Doom, they’ll say this is the kind of thing that just makes sense. This guy’s mastered science and magic — the two big fields in this whole superhero world. When you’re capable of being as brilliant in the world of potions as you are with a microscope, you can't really be stopped, can you? The Marvel universe’s biggest bad guys, like Doctor Doom? You have to keep an eye out, because these dudes know when and how to bend those rules, like the rules of sorcery. In "Blood Hunt", Doom was so smart and sneaky about his strategy; he basically used a vampire-infested crisis to get Doctor Strange to gift him the power he craved! It is a power he has coveted for years, the throne of sorcery, and now it’s his.
I'd love to hear what Mephisto thinks about this whole Doom-becoming-Sorcerer Supreme thing. That demon already tried to screw Doom a few times; he's definitely gonna try to get involved and maybe even twist Doom’s magic even further to his own evil agenda. It would be really entertaining to watch a scene where Mephisto's watching the Comics world go nuts right now, too!
Doctor Doom, a Future Avengers: Doomsday?
That news about Robert Downey Jr returning to Marvel is big enough, but add that he's back as Doctor Doom? You already know this guy's about to go crazy and shake up the whole world. Now that Doom’s a Sorcerer Supreme, I have a feeling the Avengers are gonna be in for a rough time! They are already looking into what this "One World Under Doom" thing means. A bunch of superheroes kneeling before Doctor Doom, that image just screams trouble. And who is in charge? Yeah, you got it, The Russo Brothers – who brought you Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, now we’ve got Avengers: Doomsday! You think there is a single chance of the world being safe after this, or at the very least, will those heroes make a quick escape?
It's pretty interesting to consider the fact that it was Doctor Doom who came to Doctor Strange for help! I mean, how ironic is that? A classic comic storyline move right there – the “villain asks for help from a hero, and they actually give it.” In reality though, the whole idea of Doctor Doom and Doctor Strange going into battle together sounds super exciting!
Doctor Strange's Journey: How A Sorcerer Handles Failure
What's gonna happen to Doctor Strange now? He's been Sorcerer Supreme for years, and all those people trust him – they’ve looked to him for leadership. It's gonna be hard for him to adjust to his “failure" to protect the planet and to face his own sense of self-doubt. The preview suggests he's not quite sure how to deal with the situation and how he is now this “failed hero" who is trying to be stronger! The comic’s preview actually suggests he could make some pretty big mistakes, and I can't help but wonder, will he go crazy trying to win the Sorcerer Supreme title back or get his revenge against those vampires. I hope he doesn’t turn into a big villain in this storyline!
Everyone will need to look out for Doctor Doom and what he's planning now, and, in the midst of this, we need to remember, Doctor Strange might just have his own hero story to tell.
