Batman vs Bizarro: A Kryptonite Crisis Averted?
We all know Batman loves a good plan. He's got backup plans for backup plans. Sometimes it's like, does this guy even enjoy being spontaneous? Anyway, a bunch of his plans involve Superman, and they ain't always pretty. But with this whole "Absolute Power" thing happening, it looks like the Bat's got a valid reason to unleash those contingency plans and all that kryptonite.
DC's latest event, "Absolute Power", sees our heroes getting all government controlled. In the preview for Batman #151, Amanda Waller is pulling the strings, and her little army, the Suicide Squad, shows up with their very own Bizarro. Bizarro is basically the Superman clone that's kinda dumb and all wrong in every way, but still kinda powerful. And what's Batman doing in the middle of all this? You guessed it – he's about to get super serious about bringing down Bizarro with those classic anti-Superman contingency plans. This isn't just some bat-themed therapy session, this is serious.
Batman: Ready for Kryptonite Showdown
Imagine a world where Batman’s whole obsession with Kryptonite wasn't crazy anymore, and he's not being an overprotective dad to Superman anymore, he's like, the hero of the hour. We're talking a literal 'Kryptonite-ing' of Superman’s evil twin - a real do-or-die situation for both Batman and the Earth. This is why the Bat's gotta use every single thing he's learned in years of preparing for that super-villain eventuality, because if Batman fails, well, nobody's stopping Bizarro. We are literally looking at a scenario where a Bat-contingency-plan saves the world from destruction. Talk about a career highlight, right?
Remember back when Superman got hypnotized in "Hush"? Well, Batman was already a few steps ahead. That little Kryptonite ring he made back then? Yeah, he's gonna pull it out of the box (figuratively). If Batman gets it right, and we all hope he does, the whole world is safe. It's going to be one wild showdown with some really old Bat-tactics coming back to haunt (or save) the day.
Superman’s Bizarro World
The problem with Bizarro isn't that he's evil, because sometimes he's kinda trying to do good. It's more about how his mind and morals just don't make sense. Like Superman's evil twin, Bizarro's kinda like Superman's reflection in a funhouse mirror - all wonky and kinda spooky, just like how we thought we knew the "Absolute Power" situation before this preview dropped.
Bizarro and Batman are two sides of the same coin in a lot of ways, it's almost as if they are drawn to one another. The whole point of this "Absolute Power" situation is that even with his own flaws, Batman just might be the one who'll get everyone to stop worrying about Superman's clones running wild.
From Bad Guy to World Saver?
Maybe all that time spent on making those anti-Superman Contingency Plans weren't totally nuts. Sure, the Batman/Superman fights always made the Bat-Fam go “oh-oh”, but it's a long shot and it could end up saving everyone, even the “bad guys”, since all the DC universe is stuck under Waller’s thumb for the moment. Maybe we’re finally seeing Batman's grand plans take over DC, because those kryptonite plans are about to get very real, because Batman's actually saving everyone. Not just Gotham City this time. This is global scale, world-saving stuff. All because he spent all those years obsessed with those plans.
Batman really should make his Contingency Plans into a reality show – everyone would watch to see the bat go toe to toe with some evil super clone and how those insane plans would work. We'll have to wait for the official release on August 7th, but for now, one thing’s clear: this is the time Batman gets to be the real hero for once.
