Matt Smith Helped Morfydd Clark, the "Rings of Power" Star
Morfydd Clark, who plays Galadriel in Amazon Prime's The Rings of Power, had a bit of anxiety about the show coming out because it was her first time leading a huge series. Luckily for her, she had a good pal, Matt Smith, who stars in House of the Dragon. Morfydd says that Matt was a "blessing" and helped calm her down by telling her to relax because the show is tons of fun. Morfydd said they were filming a movie together and they'd chat about what the future held. She loves how Matt is a serious actor but goofy when the cameras are off.
Before playing Galadriel, Morfydd was in Dracula on Netflix as Mina Harker and His Dark Materials as Sister Clara. She's known for getting to work with a lot of awesome actors. That's definitely something Morfydd can have on her resume - "helped by the great Matt Smith" might as well be a line item in there.
Fans Don't All Like "The Rings of Power" Galadriel
"The Rings of Power" isn't perfect, though. Critics gave good reviews when it was first out, but lots of fans were salty about how the series differed from The Lord Of The Rings lore, like some of the casting choices and the portrayal of Galadriel. When people get all riled up online, they are usually more vocal than when they love something. So the online reviews had so much "negative energy" Amazon even held back the reviews from showing up on the site for a few days because they wanted the bad comments to die down a bit.
Some people really weren't happy with the changes, but I think that everyone's got to give this one more shot. Galadriel is much younger and less calm in this version. In The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power, Galadriel hasn't experienced what's to come. The show is about how Galadriel eventually comes into her own, I can see that many are eagerly waiting to see how she'll change in the second season, especially now that she has that magical Elven Ring, called Nenya. Maybe we will be hearing how great this show is instead of all the criticism after this season.
Morfydd Clark's Acting, a Fan-Favorite
I know there are still some people who think Galadriel should be more "refined," but the season finale of "The Rings of Power" showed just how powerful Morfydd Clark is in this role. I've heard some pretty solid takes from those who've loved watching Galadriel transform over the series. With this new power she's gained with her ring, they're wondering if she'll lean in to those leadership qualities or if she'll use her new strength for vengeance. This is what makes Morfydd's acting so good; you can tell she knows the character inside and out.
The showrunners made it clear they were going to take their time crafting the lore from "The Lord of the Rings." Fans who don't want to see any changes, should understand why the creators are taking some liberties, especially given how it takes so long for these kinds of epic fantasy series to get made, the writing must be carefully thought-out to bring all these worlds to life on the screen.
"The Rings of Power" Season Two and Galadriel
"The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power" was made to showcase the world's history. It happens thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings come around. This time, we're diving deep into how all those Rings that Frodo and the gang used, ended up being made. The series' goal was to capture that whole era of rising and falling kingdoms and where Sauron - the big bad of the "The Lord of the Rings" story, really took shape and came into power.
We've already seen Galadriel in "The Rings of Power" take a huge dive into the world of darkness and corruption and that's only the beginning. It was all pretty intense as far as series premieres go, especially considering we were just seeing everyone in this new era that was built from Tolkien's writing and made for a large audience. The premiere of the series was huge for Amazon Prime - the second biggest series launch on Amazon Prime - that means a whole bunch of people tuned in.
Season Two, What to Expect
"The Rings of Power" takes us through a journey to all sorts of locations – there are misty mountains, forests where the Elves rule and an island where there's a big kingdom named Númenor, It's also covering a whole lot of ground in Tolkien's lore.
There are tons of familiar and brand-new faces in the series, and if this is anything like the other Tolkien books, this is probably just the first step into this amazing universe. I think a whole bunch of viewers want to know if those storylines about the history of Lord of the Rings are going to unfold like people thought they would. In fact, many people said Season 1 had a whole lot to love but also room for improvements. We'll know soon enough, "The Rings of Power" Season 2 premieres in May, 2023!
