In G.I. Joe's New Continuity, Jinx & Scarlett Share Strong Bonds.
Readers of Scarlett #1 discover that, while living together temporarily as housemates, Jinx and Scarlett were really close in the past. Then Jinx vanished for two years, leaving Scarlett wondering about her former companion. Stalker says he lost touch with Jinx until Scarlett spotted her in Monaco; he trained her to go secretly with the Arashikage. At the party, Jinx left Scarlett a note using a secret code that causes Stalker to believe Jinx is still on their side and has not betrayed them by joining the Arashikage.
Originally appearing in Marvel Comics' G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #59 in 1987, Jinx was shown as an Arashikage ninja enlisted under Snake Eyes. Stalker hires Scarlett to spy on the ninja clan and win their trust during the course of the miniseries' first issue, so ascertaining if Jinx is still on their side or has turned against them. Scarlett becomes distraught at meeting her old acquaintance after surreptitiously entering the Arashikage facility in Japan, therefore underscoring the actual proximity of the two ladies. The secret code they created in the past, a set of symbols only Scarlett and Jinx would know, best illustrates this.

Although her actual identity was never disclosed in the original Marvel G.I. Whether Jinx has these family links to the Arashikage in the Energon Universe or what precise part she is meant to play in the narrative is yet unknown. Being an Arashikage, however, would help to explain why she lost touch with Stalker after first entering the clan; so, Arashikage becomes immediately essential for G.I. Joe's Energon continuity from the beginning. Still, it will be very fascinating to find out more about this rendition of Jinx in G.I. Joe's new continuity on Scarlett's pages.
