Shazam Challenges The Truth About Family Trauma
Billy had a challenging upbringing; even if he found a great support network among his foster brothers, it does not absolve the trauma he experienced. Sadly, what Billy is going through is a typical experience of those who felt let down by their relatives. Though it examines a different side of its major topic, it may not be the kind of upbeat tales Shazam is accustomed to presenting. Should Shazam choose to include his Brother into his life, it will be fascinating to observe how he handles this moving on.
DC Comics currently has Shazam #12 on sale.
There is a brother Shazam never knew about.
The New 52 relaunch of DC Comics has somewhat confused the personal history of the Shazam Family. Billy was first presented as an orphaned young man who thought he was an only kid until he met his twin sister, Mary Bromfield, who subsequently grew to be the formidable Mary Marvel. Though Rosa and Victor Vasquez raised Billy and acquired five new siblings—including Mary—Flashpoint brought him back as a single kid. Billy passed on his new skills to his siblings and sisters to form an enlarged Shazam Family once he became the hero Shazam.
What the Shazam franchise is about has always been Family. Usually, Billy sees a new sibling as a happy event that emphasizes the value of family ties. But this revelation disturbs Billy and causes great emotional scars concerning his biological parents, not makes him happy. Though Billy's Brother did nothing illegal, to Billy he stands for all the affection and attention Batson never received from his mother. Shazam stories might center on family, but this scene reminds us that family is occasionally a very hard topic.
DC Officially Introduces Shazam's Brother, Inverting the Most Important Theme of the Franchise
A new Shazam Family member is joining the franchise, hence their strongest motif is being turned upside down. Over the years, Billy Batson has acquired many siblings; he has always loved sharing his life with them. What does that mean for Shazam, though, when he meets his new brother for the first time?
Billy is at conflict with Shazam in Shazam #12 by Josie Campbell, Emanuela Lupacchiano, and Mike Norton after he finds his magical alter ego has been hiding secrets from him. Billy slips out against Shazam's advise to visit his mother Marilyn Batson.
The Current on Shazam
When Billy visits Marilyn at her residence, she regrets not being the mother he was looking for. She not only asks Billy to live with her once more but also introduces him to someone. Suddenly walking in from the garden is a lad Marilyn introduces as Billy Batson's half-brother.
