Lantern, Green Alan Scott assists Jadestone See the Light:
Green Lantern Alan Scott's willpower compromises Jadestone after she has gathered and absorbed the JSA's powers. Suddenly confronted with the idea of free will, does JADESTONE carry out Waller's orders or alter his mind? The surviving JSA members meanwhile try a rescue operation to get their colleagues back to the Tower of Fate!
DC Comics will launch Absolute Power, their newest crossover, this summer. Amanda Waller is crusading against the metahumans of the DC Universe right out into the open. Waller is going to pilfers the powers of every single hero and villain on Earth by teaming with her colleagues in the Trinity of Evil, Failsafe and the Brainiac Queen. Task Force VII, an all-Amazo squad with each member empowered with the powers of a different Justice League member, helps Waller impose her reign.
Fans of Green Lantern may already know that Alan Scott's ring isn't linked to the Emotional Spectrum unlike other ring-slingers in the DC Universe. Though much like the Power Rings of the Corps members, Scott's ring depends on Willpower; the powers of the Golden Age Green Lantern originate from the mystical treasure known as the Starheart. From time travel to transmutation to even the capacity to change reality, Alan Scott's ring has always had a wider power set than Green Lanterns and can accomplish some quite amazing things.
Although Alan Scott is unquestionably a strong Green Lantern, his abilities are sometimes underappreciated in comparison to some of the more modern, popular Emerald Knights. Fairly, heroes like John Stewart and Hal Jordan have had god-level power at their disposal at several times. Other Lanterns have also accomplished with their power enhancements, for all the achievements Scott can perform with his Power Ring. But this forthcoming change involving Jadestone could reveal Alan Scott is concealing strength beyond every other Green Lantern. Jadestone is acquiring something unique among its Task Force VII colleagues by absorbing Alan Scott's power: Willpower and the capacity to reason for oneself. In the past, the Starheart has been able to accomplish many things; but, with their rings, an ordinary Green Lantern simply cannot aid a robot grow free will. As Task Force VII arrives upon the DC Universe, Alan's capacity to enable Jadestone separate from the pack could prove invaluable.
Amanda Waller spoke with the Council of Light at the end of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths (not knowing Brainiac was controlling her). Assuming metahumans were the main cause of Earth's troubles, Waller proposed mass incarceration for everyone possessing authority. But the Light urged eradicating metahumans completely and provided Waller with all the tools she would need to begin her goal. Beginning quietly and remaining in the shadows, Waller watched and noted heroes like the Titans and the Doom Patrol all through the Dawn of DC.
Waller started gathering resources to enable DC's heroes see their objectives through when they got caught in the strife of Lazarus Planet and Knight Terrors. Waller had found the ideal chance to acquire even more power after enough waiting. Waller gained greater authority and control than ever when he persuaded the United States President to launch the Bureau of Sovereignty in the crossover "Beast World." Waller emerged into public view after the end of the crisis and told the world of her intentions to wrest control of the earth back from metahumans. Batman's backup character Zur-En-Arrh followed a similar course while Waller was developing her endgame. Starting with Gotham, Zur-En-Arrh set out a campaign to eradicate crime in the world after moving his consciousness to Failsafe's indestructible body. But the new Batman already had ideas simmering when Robin learned Failsafe had obtained numerous Amazo androids and was intending to use them to help him impose force-based rule on Earth. Though Failsafe's actions have disgusted the Bat-Family, Waller has already contacted the new Batman and presented the chance for resource pooling.
Ironically, a horrible new mecha meant to eliminate Green Lanterns is revealing who the true strongest ring-slinger is. The DC Universe is ready to experience Task Force VII's fury; Absolute Power is just around here.
To enforce her rule and eliminate metahumans from the DCU, Amanda Waller and the Trinity of Evil are unleashing an all-Amazo squad to reign in the most powerful people on Earth. But one member of the powerful team is having second thoughts after taking on Alan Scott's powers and a subquent change of heart subtly hints that the Golden Age hero is the strongest Green Lantern around.
If absorbing the Starheart’s powers can help Jadestone develop free will and question its actions serving under the Trinity of Evil, then it's possible Green Lantern could share that with the other Task Force VII members. By helping the Amazos gain the ability to think for themselves, DC’s heroes could potentially sway Waller’s Amazos to help them fight against the Trinity of Evil. While there’s no guarantee it’d be successful, the surprising power held by the most powerful and underrated Green Lantern is giving the world a green ray of hope.
Green Lantern is the name given to several characters in the D.C. Comics canon, centering on individuals who dispense intergalactic justice. Green Lanterns may use their will and design original spectral things to fight against their foes. Though some Green Lanterns have helped the Justice League, their main affiliation is with the Green Lantern Corps.
