The Jedi Do Exactly What They'd Criticize Qimir For
In The Acolyte episode 5, Qimir, also known as the Stranger, does some pretty shady things. He uses the Trakata lightsaber combat form, which is considered deceptive, and he has a lightsaber that has a special trick. He even uses cortosis in his helmet and gauntlet to shut down the Jedi's lightsabers. And he kills Yord Fandar while he's unarmed. All of these tactics are super unfair and would be totally condemned by the Jedi, who would say it's a dishonorable way to fight. They would be super critical of Qimir, even if he hadn't killed seven Jedi.
But The Acolyte says that the Jedi are not any better than Qimir. During the whole battle on Khofar, the Jedi do a lot of the same things they would have been mad at the Stranger for doing. Both Sol and Yord attack Qimir from behind. Jecki Lon even uses two lightsabers, giving her an advantage that the other Jedi don't have. And Sol, in a fit of rage, nearly kills Qimir when he's unarmed. It's a pretty clear case of Hypocrisy. The Jedi would criticize everything Qimir does, but they have no problem doing those same things themselves.
Qimir Implies The Jedi Are The True Aggressors Here
It's super weird why the Stranger decides to show himself to the Jedi on Khofar. It doesn't really make sense because the only thing it accomplishes is letting them know the Sith are not extinct, which would have been bad for their plans. But by forcing the Jedi to fight dirty and then calling them out on their Hypocrisy, Qimir seems to have made a big move in his goal to "kill the dream" of the Jedi. It's like he's showing them they're not perfect, peace-keeping servants of the light. He's saying they're actually hypocrites and aggressors.
It also seems like the Jedi could have avoided the whole mess if they just let the Stranger go free. If they weren't so eager to fight the dark side, Qimir would never have sent Mae after them in the first place. Qimir's actions are like a mirror of what happens to the Jedi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. They basically caused their own downfall. Now that Qimir and the Jedi's Hypocrisy are both out in the open, The Acolyte might start criticizing the Jedi Order even more.
