Sister Sage wants to show in The Boys Season 4 her intelligence and superiority.
The entrance of Sister Sage, becoming Homelander's newest friend out of morbid curiosity, marks one of the main changes of The Boys Season 4 opener "The Ministry of Dirty Tricks". Said to be the smartest person on the planet, Sage is nonetheless first portrayed living alone in a little apartment. When Homelander visits her for outside guidance, she can immediately read him and interpret his present inner conflict as well as his need for her knowledge. She supposedly temporarily belonged to Teenage Kix during the same time as A-Train, but she was swiftly kicked from the squad. This helps Homelander's effective recruiting of Sage in "The Ministry of Dirty Tricks," since she only seems to agree to his suggestion after pledging that he will indeed pay her attention. One of the few moments Sage seems truly thrilled so far in the season—having the means to "on a global scale," as Homelander notes, will let her theories come to life.
This annoyance has solidified into a readiness to cooperate with someone as terrible as Homelander for a project that will clearly make the United States into Rome under Caesar's leadership. But the present America is the same broken country that ignores her and provides a venue for openly biassed persons like Firecracker to spread false information and hate. Given her proven brilliance, it makes logical why Sage would be ready to burn it all down. Sister Sage could be, however, playing a longer game by nature.
Does Sister Sage have ulterior motives in The Boys Season 4?
The interesting possibility of a character like Sister Sage is the incorporation of a totally mental component to Homelander's operation. Any choice, no matter how improbable, can be covertly part of her invisible plan. The first three episodes of The Boys Season 4 make it quite evident that she has no moral qualms with murder as part of her plans, therefore complementing Homelander's goal. Homelander's savage temper usually falls short of this brutal but patient method. Her endgame is still unknown outside of Homelander's apparent common intent with Supes on top of the planet.
Homelander is erratic in a cruel sense, but Sister Sage offers The Boys an opportunity to bring a real spanner into the works. Her actions could be extensive and go much beyond what she is ready to share with Homelander and, hence, the public. This might let the show transform her into a real complication. She might be Homelander's secret weapon, an unanticipated thorn in the side for the Boys, or perhaps vice-versa. The Boys' stakes are raised by Sage's part in the story, which teases a far more cerebral element to Homelander's intentions.
