Ishana Night Shyamalan on "The Watchers 2": Unclear Future of Horror Movie Sequel?

Probabilities of *The Watchers* Getting a Sequel?

For *The Watchers*, it's rather early days, thus declaring a sequel to the supernatural Horror movie could be a bit too early. But based just on the early movie reactions, a sequel seems quite improbable right now. Though moviegoers have been a little more mixed on the project, reviews of *The Watchers* have been mainly negative thus far from critics; official word on the movie's box office performance is not known.

The review aggregation website claims that *The Watchers* has a meager 30% rating for acceptance. Although many critics seem to have with Shyamalan's directorial debut, including the movie's narrative and general lack of conviction, the most important complaint they have is with its muddled ending. Many critics contend that the finale, which offers a significant plot shock, utterly ruins the entire movie, so it seems to be its biggest disaster.

Ishana Night Shyamalan responds unsurely on the possibilities of *The Watchers* 2.

Based on A.M. Shine's novel of the same name, Ishana Night Shyamalan, the director of her debut film, talks about her ideas on *The Watchers* 2. The Horror-thracle follows Mina, a 28-year-old American artist who finds herself caught in a vast forest in western Ireland surrounded by the enigmatic creatures that give the film its title. Leading the *Watchers* cast also are Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, John Lynch, and Olwen Fouéré.

A recent ComicBook.com interview asked Shyamalan whether a *Watchers* Sequel was under development. The young director said she was unsure about a sequel to *The Watchers* right now even while she acknowledged her want to keep exploring the horror and fantasy genres. Her comments taken as whole are below:

The Watchers Might start a New Horror Franchise.

As said before, especially given the box office numbers have not yet been released, it is still too early to determine whether *The Watchers* could return for a second act. Many times, movies had bad reviews yet did well financially just to get cleared for a Sequel. Whether this is true for *The Watchers* is yet unknown.

There are possibilities the movie will attract new viewers since the last scene for the film might build up a sequel and therefore create post-credit sequence. Most likely, the film will have long-lasting influence.

Examination of the *Watchers*

*The Watchers* chronicles Mina (Dakota Fanning), a twenty-eight-year-old artist lost in an Irish wilderness, based on A.M. Shine's book. She is momentarily relieved when she finds cover until she comes upon others in the same situation—but every night she is chased by unidentified animals.

The background of the director points to more horror Movies to arrive in the future. The picture has attracted a lot of attention from the director's debut, and hopefully the viewers will enjoy it.

I am not deliberately deciding to enter horror.

"I have no idea. I cannot talk about that. Indeed, I am not able to discuss that right now. [It] wasn't exactly a calculated choice on my side to explore horror. Still, I find the information to be fascinating. From my early years, I have always seemed drawn to darker, scary things for some reason. Therefore, it's more so the palette I enjoy playing with, although I find enjoyment in broadening the genre and touching on other topics. For instance, I would want to investigate this fantasy horror crossover since I think it is quite interesting and awesome.
