Fans of Halloween and Michael Myers are all so excited to see this story of the saga continue to move on.
Laurie Strode's Son
Fans of the Halloween movies remember a few characters. We have Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. Who could forget her daughter Jamie Lloyd who starred in Halloween 4 through Halloween 6. It seems that no matter what the creators of Halloween decided, these two keep showing up! But what about Laurie's son John?
One of the more unusual moments comes with Halloween H20. While fans may not really love this iteration, what happened to this family changed completely.
With H20 in 1998 it re-imagines this world where Michael Myers and Laurie Strode were siblings! It seems the main antagonist was able to return but for everyone, he was almost unstoppable.
What Happened To John?
H20, the film took everyone on a ride, with a big set of rules and it decided to have a different ending, in fact Laurie was a mom with a new character John Strode.
- Laurie faked her death and created a new life for herself
- In this, John got to meet Michael and almost got killed!
- The big showdown ended with Laurie killing Michael Myers for good, at least, as we learned about in the next big release - Halloween Resurrection.
- That new iteration in the film, made sure that Michael was still alive!
- But Halloween Resurrection missed the chance to really highlight John and that's what many people hoped would happen! Fans have always been searching to learn more about Laurie's family! However, the filmmakers kept making different, exciting iterations, like with David Gordon Green's remake and none of them brought John back for the adventure.
That seems like it could be an opportunity missed. What we saw were all the amazing twists of this horror movie, leaving fans wondering if John ever got a happy ending!
Was John Ever Mentioned in The Sequel?
With "Resurrection", it's not hard to understand the creators really tried to make Laurie's story, which gave audiences a chance to be shocked but what was strange was that this film was meant to give audiences another chance to see John! He was even set up to take revenge!
- But the movie, which was met with a less-than-enthusiastic reception and bombed at the box office.
- What could have been a fun sequel and brought John in front of the camera never came to be.
- Rob Zombie's remake had no place for John, and it looks like this has just made the character almost forgotten about in the history of Halloween.
While the new trilogy started with Halloween 2018 (and its follow-ups: Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends), the filmmakers brought the franchise back to the original timeline. There was an epic chance to make an appearance and give John his rightful place in the family, however! These changes ended up being more of a nod to Laurie's past while bringing in other characters who haven't been shown before and didn't mention John in any of these releases. There is so much for audiences to uncover!
Will John Return?
It's almost impossible for this character to return as we see this franchise take many twists, and the other important members of Laurie's family like Jamie Lloyd disappeared in those original releases.
The story of John Strode has always had a hard time getting a footing and has only received a little screen time but what's unique about Halloween is that it keeps going in a different direction.
If fans love to get something a little nostalgic that seems possible. The newer releases gave some fans what they were asking for but, nothing could really match the feel that these earlier characters had. John's future remains a big, complex mystery. As long as these stories stay connected with the Halloween world we're sure to get plenty of unexpected surprises. For now, however, the world is awaiting more insight into these legendary figures who are now in the spotlight.
If you are a fan of "Halloween" you may find it incredibly compelling to check out the amazing moments with "John". If he gets a return, who knows! For fans looking to revisit this thrilling and captivating series of stories. These great shows give audiences so much that's just full of chills.
