Author James Patterson gives Alex Cross Show of Prime Video a glowing review.
Author James Patterson has given the forthcoming Cross adaption great marks before the show opens. Starring Black Adam actor Aldis Hodge, Cross will be up on Prime Video later this year. Officially launched in January 2020, the project—from Skydance Television, the company behind the popular Reacher adaptation—has taken time to find viewers. Cross has already gotten an early renewal, though, in a display of confidence.
During a recent Armchair Expert podcast interview, Patterson thought back on the several Adaptations of his writings throughout the years. Particularly looking at the next Prime Video show with great appreciation, the prolific writer and executive producer of Cross generally said in general that the show was "good," and especially pointed out the fact that the police work had more reality and edge. The Alex Cross Show calls for a familiar cast alongside Hodge.
The show centers on Alex Cross, a forensic psychologist and detective who is especially adept at delving into the mind of killers and their victims—a tactic that finally aids in his apprehension of the offenders. Leading the cast and creating the Prime Video Adaptation is Hodge, most famously known for playing Alec Hardison in the Leverage television series. The group also includes other well-known names from both movies and TV.
Showrunner for season 1 is Burn Notice writer and executive producer Ben Watkins; Hodge's co-stars include New Amsterdam lead Ryan Eggold, Shadowhunters veteran Isaiah Mustafa, Supernatural's Alona Tal, and Chicago Fire's Eloise Mumford. Additionally confirmed are Wes Chatham (Ahsoka), Jeanine Mason ( Grey's Anatomy), and Scream's Matthew Lillard's joining the season 2 cast.
The narrative of Alex Cross
Alex Cross's early season 2 renewal reflects the popularity of Dad TV, which usually refers to action dramas with erratic heroes. Pursuing originals like Jack Ryan, Reacher, Bosch: Legacy, and Outer Range, Prime Video has been especially tenacious. But the particular endorsement of Patterson may go a long way in persuading readers who appreciate the source work that the long-gestating adaptation is well worth finding out, independent and apart from bigger TV trends.
Following the narrative of a multifarious and fascinating character, Cross is a television show exploring moral, power, and personal conflict. The drama investigates the essence of justice and the human condition as it shows the grey zones between right and wrong.
