The Frasier Reboot Is Staying Far Away From "Cheers"!
You might be a fan of Frasier Crane and his amazing Boston family! The "Cheers" bar was super popular. Now that he is in Boston again, will Frasier be hitting up Sam Malone's famous Cheers bar?
Why Isn't "Cheers" Bar In the New Frasier Show?
- We all thought we’d see him go back to Cheers and have a drink! Maybe run into Sam Malone? But that’s not happening.
- The creator of Frasier, James Burrow, said they were done with the bar, making sure there would never be a Cheers reboot!
- The Frasier reboot replaced Cheers with a new place called “Mahoney’s.” A pretty smart nod to John Mahoney who played Frasier’s father!
Will There Be More "Cheers" References In the Show?
- You could say “Cheers” is gone. They’re not bringing it back! They’re trying to preserve its legacy.
- If the creators ever did revive Cheers, they’d probably ruin the magic of those iconic scenes! No way, that would just be messed up!
- Ted Danson (remember him as Sam Malone?), along with Burrow, think Cheers is better left as is.
Is That A Problem for "Frasier?"
Not a biggie, really. Even if Frasier’s life back in Boston was totally wrapped around that iconic bar - and his friendships with all those great people. It still was the start of all of his incredible things, they didn’t have to bring those people into this story.
Now the "Frasier" fans get new storylines with an ensemble cast!
Frasier’s time at that Sam bar might have been good for him. But he’s back to try and save his son - that was super interesting to watch, because it definitely put that new spin on this great American sitcom! It's not like "Frasier" and “Cheers” need to hang out all the time, because these spin-off shows have done their own thing! It was always great fun to see him get a fresh start in a whole new city! And you just know - all the familiar faces, and characters we've loved over all the seasons - that’s how they get people really involved in a great, long-running series!
