Starfield Mods: The Good, The Bad and the Achievement Glitch
The good news is that Starfield mods are amazing - it's awesome that they're a thing on Xbox! But there is a major downside. Those mods, including even paid ones, actually disable achievements.
Is There a Starfield Mods Problem On Xbox?
- We all love Bethesda mods, so we're excited about the ability to use them, even on consoles. Those mods on Xbox - it's great! Xbox mods aren't that common!
- There's something super cool about the Creation Platform, and that it even gives players some awesome paid mods. Bethesda vets those! These paid mods are more like DLC, but the problem is that Xbox still treats them like they are unofficial!
- And you know what? These mods actually break your ability to earn Xbox achievements.
So Achievements Are Disabled...
- Yep, that's the crazy part! That really is a bummer, because many of us love getting achievements, right? We've already seen the Starfield modding scene take off, and you are looking at some truly awesome cosmetic mods. Even though Starfield mods disable achievements - but that just won't cut it!
- For PC users - they actually can turn achievements back on! They've got Starfield Script Extenders. But on Xbox? You gotta pick between the mods and those bragging rights!
Can Bethesda Do Anything?
This is actually more of a Microsoft problem, but Bethesda is now part of Microsoft. So, maybe they could push to fix this problem.
How To Get Those Xbox Achievements
You've got some tough decisions! To get your Starfield achievements, you have to remove the mods from your game, it’s super easy to disable mods but what it all boils down to is a trade off! It’s just a super frustrating way to look at the entire modding scene!
It sounds like a minor thing - you’re basically swapping cool cosmetic mods and some awesome new worlds with the possibility of having achievements on the console - that’s just a big letdown, but we know Bethesda, too. They could totally figure this out - the problem is not too hard, so let’s hope there is a way around this for gamers on the Xbox! We hope they will figure it out!
