Why Did Scott Bakula Agree to Do Star Trek: Enterprise?
You probably remember Scott Bakula, and how awesome he was in Star Trek: Enterprise! Well, in a new podcast episode, he finally spills the tea on how they convinced him to captain the Enterprise!
So How'd It Happen?
- It turns out Scott Bakula didn't have a huge craving to join Star Trek, so he needed a good reason! But then those Star Trek producers got smart and hit him with a brilliant hook!
- The Star Trek: Enterprise producers let him know, in a totally convincing way - that he'd be playing Captain Jonathan Archer! He'd be exploring 100 years before Captain Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series - and this got Bakula really hyped!
- This all happened back when Star Trek: Enterprise was still called Enterprise! They changed the title later to make things clear - because they wanted those Star Trek fans to know this one was in the Star Trek universe.
Was He Into The Show As a Kid?
The best part is that Bakula actually explains how this 100 Years Before Kirk thing was like a real game changer for him. He explains he never dreamed of starring on a Star Trek TV show. In fact, it didn't even cross his mind! So they basically said, 'We want you, and you'll be doing it all in the Star Trek universe - before those awesome episodes with Captain Kirk.'
Was Star Trek: Enterprise Cancelled?
- The crazy part about all this is, we only got 4 seasons, and it did get cancelled back in 2005! But he still went on to have an amazing career in Hollywood, and is super recognizable for his parts in other amazing shows!
- He just explains that he wasn't about to follow those Star Trek captains, that it just wouldn't have been the right time! So you gotta love how it all came together.
Now it seems like it's even cooler for him. It's almost a prequel! They even got some of his other Star Trek Enterprise actors - like Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer on their podcast to chat about his amazing time on the show!
