What is the Original Ending of 50 First Dates?
Hold on to your rom-com hats! The iconic "50 First Dates" could have ended very differently, according to Drew Barrymore! She spilled the tea on "The Drew Barrymore Show" about how it almost had a dark twist!
What Was the "50 First Dates" Original Ending Like?
It was back when it was called "50 First Kisses" - it was a super-serious drama in Seattle. That's a lot different from the wacky comedy we loved! Instead of getting together at the end, like in the real 50 First Dates, they're separated! It's almost like the "love story" was a total bummer, even with "anterograde amnesia" at play.
Why'd They Switch to a Happy Ending?
- You probably wouldn't have been a big fan of the original ending - and I am pretty sure it's what most "50 First Dates" fans agree with! This "love story" needed that happy feeling, and "50 First Kisses" didn't have that.
- The ending that we got with the awesome "50 First Dates" really shows the "unconventional love story". You can see the crazy determination from the "50 First Dates cast", who worked their hearts out!
- You gotta love it, even with anterograde amnesia in play, Lucy and Henry built a family - because it showed that you could still overcome all sorts of challenges with real love!
What's So Different About "50 First Dates"?
- That dramatic feel would've sucked, so I am happy it switched over to what we saw on the big screen. Think about those super heartwarming romantic comedies that we all watch. There's this whole feeling of hope!
- It's awesome that the filmmakers went for the full happy ending, especially since it brought a sense of how a couple with anterograde amnesia, like Lucy, could actually find love.
So now we've got "50 First Dates" - a movie about crazy situations with lots of humor. You definitely get to feel those strong feelings for Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler - They just make those classic romantic comedies! You might remember them for other fun Drew Barrymore movies, or all those great Adam Sandler movies.
Now you're totally ready to revisit "50 First Dates" and maybe watch some of those other rom-coms, like maybe, "50 First Kisses"! There are so many other "romantic comedy movies" - and some Adam Sandler movies are totally hilarious, too. The best part is that you have those movies anytime!
