What Sets the Rebel Moon Director's Cuts Different?
Though the Director's Cuts of *Rebel Moon* were promised before the first film ever opened, the new iterations have some interesting variances to expect. The first, and maybe most importantly, is that instead of their PG-13 designation, both Movies will now have a R rating. This will call for including more violent material and sexually graphic situations.
Additionally included in the director's edits are longer runs with an hour of footage added to every film. Originally running 134 minutes, *A Child of Fire* had a runtime of 122 minutes, hence both Movies will now go over three hours. Though this will give time for the characters to be developed further outside the worldbuilding and action, it is still to be seen if the director's edits are received any better, therefore addressing a major critique from *Rebel Moon* evaluations. The Rotten Tomatoes marks for both movies are shown below:
The Saga of the Rebel Moon
Beginning with the first movie, *Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire*, which came out in 2023, Zack Snyder constructed a multi-media series. The protagonist of the franchise is Kora, a former worker of an autocratic government now ruling the universe. To atone for the crimes she participated in, Kora travels the cosmos assembling a crew to fight back and free their planets.
The *Rebel Moon* Director's Cut emphasizes the worldbuilding, the character development, and the several plot threads. Those who have been fervent fans of the series thus far are most surely looking forward its release.

Though they were still Rotten, the audience ratings for the *Rebel Moon* films were quite better. Given that they don't actually have a very large audience to start with, it is uncertain how well they will perform, but the new edits could solve some of the viewers' issues. Unlike the generally well-liked 2021 director's cut Zack Snyder's Justice League, which was the result of reshoots under a different director's vision after Snyder left the project, this scenario is rather different from the sci-fi movies, which were uncompromising Snyder projects in their original cuts.
Zack Snyder is coming back into a familiar territory.
