The Horizon series has made a big impact in the world of gaming.

Horizon Online, Another Flop?

The company is known for releasing the awesome titles in the Horizon series! Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West. And if you’re a huge fan, it looks like you’re going to be in for a bit of a bummer!

Fans have loved the amazing, epic story from these releases that came out back in 2017 and 2022. While these gave players some amazing game play! The core story and amazing character that stands out was the fierce, awesome Aloy, but that all might be changing!

A Rough Road for Sony

While Sony’s ambition of a move to online gaming, you have to understand that those games that were a real focus, did not go very well.

Some big names were affected and did not make the best impression:

  • The flop of "Concord," that never managed to attract audiences.
  • "Helldivers 2," was another title that saw the number of gamers go down!

It wasn't long after these failed releases, Sony made a major decision to only release a select group of live-service titles in the future! It seems, though. That Sony might still make these kinds of games. It appears Horizon Online, has survived. But the real test? Well, it looks like this game could go the way of "The Last of Us Online!" The game got canceled soon after, it had some critical reviews that said, this new, online experience, didn't provide a game that was going to hold fans interest for ages!

What Could Be So Wrong?

Fans will be shocked to learn that the story behind "Horizon Online" is a bit different! This upcoming game could give the players something brand new with the option of taking on a custom character that is unique to each person playing! You also get to see new areas of the Horizon world, making the adventure a completely fresh perspective on a series fans have loved.

If you think it might be similar, in its storyline and events, to what was going on in the previous games, you'll be surprised to find out. That "Horizon Online" looks more like a "sidequest" from what came before!

Horizon fans will really have something special to look forward to in the upcoming game called "Horizon 3." But it's not really something that is going to get a big, quick release! Because there are some truly amazing releases coming out!

  • There will be a new version of Horizon Zero Dawn as a Remaster!
  • A LEGO title - LEGO Horizon Adventures

So it's going to take some time, "Horizon Online", will come out, but with all that's in motion right now! Will it impact "Horizon 3". No one can say for sure, and that includes the developers of the game!

A big part of why many think that the next game could fail! There's this missing, vital part! That is Aloy.

A Game Without Aloy?

Fans, we get you! The story of Horizon was a game that came with this great sense of connection to a compelling character. Aloy is really, truly, a force of nature.

If you had this new experience, that doesn't mean you can't go on a real adventure. You just can't expect that same, amazing character from past games!

Even more, Horizon Online doesn't take place in the world players know and love, so it looks like a totally different experience that's a lot less meaningful than what players have enjoyed.

An Unclear Future For Horizon

Fans might still love it but there might be some reservations!

Horizon has so many amazing, key components. These are why everyone gets super pumped to see new content from the series:

  • the great battle mechanics
  • the incredible environments
  • a great dungeon exploration that keeps players engaged for ages

But these only feel as engaging because of what they give, that’s the core of these characters that the story focuses on!

As you may be noticing, Horizon 3 is a bit far away. It was actually pointed out during a recent podcast, by Jason Schreier, the reason this may take a long time!

With the various releases coming up that have some fans wondering whether these new titles will even give "Horizon" enough reason for fans to stay around.

Will these other projects affect Horizon Online! We might just have to wait and see what happens!

You may be ready for this amazing series, it really looks to give us so many elements of "Horizon!" It may not capture those big, awesome moments that make everyone's jaws drop. But those elements of these exciting games are all here and you can find that sense of excitement with "Horizon Online!". Will this series be able to continue this long term. Well, only time will tell.
