Starfield: Shattered Space DLC - Platforms & Release Window
Though the precise date is unknown, Starfield's Shattered Space DLC is scheduled for release anywhere in 2024. In an earlier interview, Starfield director Todd Howard said the DLC will hit the fall. Though it's unknown whether that still holds true, it seems most plausible. If the release date was set for the summer, the first teaser most likely would have made clear disclosure of this. A autumn release date would also imply that the DLC arrives almost exactly one year following the original game release.
All systems allowing Starfield gameplay will have Shattered Space available: PC and Xbox Series X/S. Unlike the main game, it will not be free with Game Pass; players who access Starfield via the subscription service will have to pay an extra cost for the Shattered Space DLC.
Starfield: Broken Space: Narrative Elements
Everything on the trailer seems to point to House Va'ruun as the focal point for Starfield's Shattered Space DLC. Among the various religions players can choose in Starfield is House Va'ruun. Apart from a few crossings with otherwise unrelated missions, it is practically absent from the main narrative. Additionally the religion Andreja's friend follows causes some conflict in the Starfield search "Divided Loyalties."
House Va'ruun eventually will be in charge of swallowing the Milky Way galaxy; it worsishes a deity called the Great Serpent, which its adherents believe created. Only those who committed themselves to the Great Serpent would survive during this cataclysmic catastrophe; at which point they would project its vision over the larger galaxy. Colonist Jinan Va'ruun started the religion claiming to have personally acquired these ideas straight from the Great Serpent. He forwarded his ideas to the other people living on his colony ship, which vanished right away. When it resurfaced, Jinan waged war on those who did not adopt his worldview. After his death, this Serpent's Crusade came to an end and his son and heir adopted a more subdued approach.
Starfield, the first original IP released by Bethesda Game Studios in twenty-25 plus years, is shown.
Set in 2310, Starfield centers on the United Colonies and Freestar Collective keeping a precarious truce following a conflict set 20 years previously. Navigating The Settled Systems and the tensions between the warring factions, players will personalize their character as a member of a space exploration team named Constellation. Bethesda claims that players can discover resources and build their ships by exploring more than 100 systems and 1000 planets, therefore enacting their own sci-fi adventures.
Despite early problems, players and critics gave the game good marks; its popularity seems to be rising with every fresh release. Seeing Bethesda keep supporting the game with fresh DLCs and how the players would respond to the new features would be interesting.
Starfield: Broken Space - Novel Approach to Playground
Among the various fresh gameplay elements the Shattered Space DLC will provide Starfield—a myriad of invisible worlds to explore. This is hardly surprising; as large as Starfield's galaxy is already, the unusual, House Va'ruun-centric planets seem to be created especially to fulfill certain narrative purposes. A few additional deserted worlds for players to explore, scan, and utilize with outposts will probably also be included in the DLC.
Additionally included in the Shattered Space DLC are various fresh opponent forms for players to interact with. The trailer features giant, insectoid invaders scutling after the player with sharp pincers aloft. These will probably stalk the remains of the once-great House Va'ruun, impeding the player's investigation. The trailer shows the ghostly forms of other spacers. These could be the last traces of Jinan Va'ruun's original colony shipmates or Va'ruunian zealots applying cloaking techniques, not sure how they relate to the story.
Revealed with a Release Window and a Complete Trailer, Starfield's First DLC is Shattered Space.
The presence of Starfield DLC has been more or less known since even before the game's release: DLC has always been a component of Bethesda's open-world RPGs and it was promised as a bonus for some pre-orders of the game. Since then, news has been few; instead, Starfield's updates and gameplay enhancements have taken the stage.
But all of that changed during the Xbox Games Showcase, one of the events scheduled for Summer Game Fest weekend 2024. Showcasing its release window, narrative concept, and first glimpse at gameplay, Shattered Space debuted its first-ever trailer. Based on that trailer, below is all currently known about Starfield's DLC.
Along with the Reveal of Starfield's Creation Club, the Announcement of the Shattered Space DLC came alongside.
The introduction of the Shattered Space DLC accompanied the unveiling of Starfield's Creation Club, an in-game marketplace for creative content purchasing. With stuff like customized weaponry, armor skins, ship modules, and other customizations, this covers official downloads as well as player-made mods. This has generated debate even while it raises the general customizability of the game. Microtransactions to single-player, story-oriented RPGs have drawn criticism for Bethesda's Creation Clubs in the past. For Starfield, this already has resulted in a review bombing campaign.
Although players won't have to pay for Shattered Space to enter the Creation Club, they will require virtual money to download anything from it.
