The Nintendo Switch, since its debut in 2017, has taken Gaming by storm, capturing the hearts of gamers everywhere! But, like any grand plan, there are a few hiccups. And one of them? It's an issue with games flooding the market!
Nintendo Switch 2 Needs To Fix The Shovelware Problem
A sea of games! But many are those poorly-made games that give Gaming a bad name.
The Nintendo Switch, is known for having this problem, what gamers call "shovelware"!
They use misleading, low-quality graphics, assets, and some even use AI! And these can seem tempting and end up stealing money, while giving the Nintendo Switch a bad rap!
They might use AI to get more customers to click, even though they are using this tool for all the wrong reasons, leading to some scams that end up costing players their hard earned money.
One of the big issues is that the eShop has lots of low-quality games, so players don't know where to look!
While Nintendo tries to make the experience super easy to find games, and has added features, the eShop doesn't make the user's life easier. Players can find hundreds of thousands of games!
It's an issue that really affects the entire industry. The Nintendo eShop has a ton of content! But the good stuff, those creative indie gems that took so much work are getting buried. Nintendo hasn't really done enough to make sure it's curating their platform and offering the right kind of games.
Even with this growing problem, it seems the Nintendo Switch eShop needs even more games!
Shovelware Hurts Indies:
The bad shovelware can cause more problems! We already have this issue of not being able to find cool indie titles and as the numbers for low-quality games grow, indie titles are almost impossible to locate and will be unable to succeed.
In a very open discussion.
It looks like Joseph Humfrey, co-founder of Inkle and Mike Rose, the founder of No More Robots made the impact clear. This is one of those problems that exists throughout gaming. Developers were honest and spoke about their problems that occurred when trying to release a popular title called 80 Days on the Nintendo Switch eShop!
Even though Humfrey shared the news! Nintendo wasn't able to discover it, so its game struggled to succeed.
Nintendo Needs to Do A Better Job:
It doesn't seem to be something Nintendo has focused on yet but the need to really create some stricter rules, even improve those eShop pages so they're much easier to navigate needs a makeover, just to get those awesome indie gems discovered, as well as more great Indie Games, out there.
Even better? That Discovery page needs some work. So many players are aware of the awesome game like Fortnite, other top-tier triple-A titles, as well as Nintendo's beloved franchise. This is an issue that everyone can understand, as even with some incredible games the ones who have worked hard just are not getting a chance to be successful.
While some are not successful in these indie games it still shows that Nintendo doesn't always take it to the next level as they are missing a massive opportunity. The most effective steps are these:
- More Indie World Showcases are always a win
But overall, those big changes that Nintendo could be considering would make a huge impact and hopefully, give more games a real chance for them to get noticed! This can help change things so those that love the platform get more opportunities to get the most value out of these new consoles.
With a new console, there will be some pretty significant changes from what Nintendo already made available in the marketplace.
Those that follow the game industry are already excited to see if this change will finally occur.
If so, those at Nintendo may give players the perfect console they've always been waiting for!
The Switch 2 is a platform that everyone hopes is able to address this long standing concern. It should be at the forefront as a big consideration!
This has got everyone anticipating all the things that are going to be great! Nintendo's next gen console could be a fantastic next step into a brighter future, especially for indie devs!
