Dwayne is not like Playboy. He has experienced a lot: drug trade harsh reality, friends dying, and jail time. Though he doesn't want to return into that life, he is unsure about another way he could survive. His tougher mission is to kill Playboy, thus you will have to fight through his bodyguards.
Dwayne will be depressed but will give you his apartment after you kill Playboy. You'll even be able to dress in Claude's GTA 3 attire and save your game in that fairly fantastic location. Dwayne will also turn into your friend. If you level out your friendship, he will call you up to go out, play games, and even send his crew to assist you in fights.
Whose choice then should you make? Playboy gives a large cash reward; Dwayne's benefits are far more unusual. You pick up his apartment, the Claude costume, and a new friend. His staff also comes quite handy in trying circumstances. The game also makes hints suggesting you should support Dwayne. Niko expresses his obvious unease with Playboy's proposition to kill Dwayne.
Dwayne shows real thanks for your help and is a far more fascinating character than Playboy. He would be a fantastic game buddy. Therefore, even if it would be tempting to grab the money, befriending Dwayne and killing Playboy X is the better option generally.
