Prepare for some quite dramatic crime! About to premiere a new show featuring Emilia Clarke and Charlie Hunnam, Amazon Prime Video is going to keep a fairly amazing trend going for the streamer. Prime Video loves adapting comic books, as you know, and this one is no different! It's derived from Ed Brubaker's Eisner Award-winning comic book "Criminal".
"Criminal" follows a different path even if "The Boys" and "Invincible" both center super-powered characters. This realistic crime noir series stays true in grit. Think mobsters, corrupt cops, veterans, and small-time offenders all twisted together in a web of crime and mystery. The comic book series will keep you on the tip of your seat by telling several linked tales.
Apart from Clarke and Hunnam, the production boasts a star-studded cast including Adria Arjona, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Pat Healy, Taylor Selé, Logan Browning, and more. Involved in the project from the beginning, comic book writer Ed Brubaker co-showruns with Jordan Harper and writes the first episode's script. Furthermore directing the first four episodes are Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Speak of a dream team!
The show is about to present a familiar but distinct universe of crime. Given the comics it has to draw from, this series has great possibilities. We are eager to see how "Criminal" all turns out since we know it is full of fascinating people and narratives. "Criminal" seems like a surefire hit for Prime Video with Clarke and Hunnam driving the charge and Brubaker guiding the path.
