Kate's NCIS Assassination Scene Was Well-Executed (Except For Weatherly's Mistake)
Her choice to leave NCIS was also evident as Alexander also made known on her podcast appearance. Particularly as one of the show's heroes, she struggled to manage the demanding filming hours the procedural required. Her continuous contact with Weatherly and even de Pablo suggests that there is obviously no hostility between her and her old company. In any event, NCIS did a terrific job writing Kate off, despite her character's harsh end. Although the program features rotating cast members, Kate's death was the first time it had to bid farewell to a prominent character.
Several episodes later, a cold-blooded Ari assassinated Kate with a single bullet to the forehead just as she, Gibbs, and DiNozzo were regaining their breath while chasing another bad guy. NCIS's 1000th episode recently revisited Kate's debut at the agency, and it served as a reminder of how terrible it was to see her killed by Ari Haswari, half-brother of Ziva David. The couple had already crossed paths while he had Ducky Mallard captive. Several episodes later, a cold-blooded Ari assassinated Kate with a single bullet to the forehead just as she, Gibbs, and DiNozzo were regaining their breath while chasing another bad guy. It was a classic cliffhanger, leaving the audience on constant waiting for responses for the full summer holiday.
Michael Weatherly Reveals a Small Tony DiNozzo Snafu During Kate Todd's Assassination Scene in the NCIS Season 2 Finale
The finale of NCIS season 2 includes Kate Todd's death scene, which appears to have included a mistake by Michael Weatherly. Alexander's Sasha's Kate's debut set off the events of the long-running CBS police procedural, which is part of Leroy Jethro Gibbs' original NCIS squad. Her character was an instant fan favorite, so losing her after only two seasons was a tremendous shock, especially considering how she was written off. Kate was murdered in the NCIS season 2 conclusion rather than merely leaving the Major Case Response Team (MCRT).
Nearly two decades after she quit the CBS police procedural, Alexander returned to the series to join Weatherly and Cote de Pablo's Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch podcast, as they discuss her time on the show. Weatherly disclosed a mistake he made when filming Kate's harrowing assassination sequence, one of the episode's most compelling tidbits:
Review NCIS
NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. The NCIS team consists of NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee, an MIT graduate with a knack for computers who has lately graduated to senior field agent; the charismatic, unpredictable and resilient NCIS Special Agent Nicholas “Nick” Torres, who has spent most of his career on solo undercover assignments; and sharp, athletic and tough NCIS Special Agent Jessica Knight, a formidable REACT agent specialized in hostage negotiations and high-risk operations. Running the morgue and having progressed from assistant to fully licensed medical examiner, the naive Jimmy Palmer is helping the team; and forensic scientist Kasie Hines, Ducky's former graduate assistant. NCIS Director Leon Vance, a brilliant, highly skilled agent constantly dependable to upend the established quo, is in charge of supervising activities. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.
The show offers a variety of cases that are always captivating. Several fans have been looking forward to the series. The series was revived, and it has gained popularity.
The NCIS team is made up of a varied cast of characters.
“If you view the scene in slow motion, this is a small Easter egg for the home audience. If you watch right before the dot appears, they digitally added it. However, Larry Fuentes or whoever is on the back of your head. It went out. Blood covers my face, but Larry was in front of me, so I flinch right before the blood hits, right before the dot. So, I'm flinching before you're killed.”
Fans will surely be watching the film for this mistake since it gives a unique viewpoint on filming. The series may be more entertaining because of the mistake, demonstrating the team's sense of humor.
The Return of Kate?
Alexander's posthumous return as Kate in season 3 and her latest reunion with Weatherly and de Pablo are bringing up questions about the possibility of her making an appearance in NCIS season 22. Season 21 featured a photograph and some references to her, perhaps setting up a proper return, albeit through either flashbacks or visions. However it were to happen, the writers would be hard-pressed to find any longtime follower of the show who wouldn't be thrilled to see Alexander in the role again.
In the fall 2024-2025 television season, NCIS season 22 will premiere on CBS.
