Genshin Impact, the free-to-play action RPG from HoYoverse, keeps getting bigger with every new region and update. A while back, Genshin Impact released Dendro characters and with that, the fun, the power, and the reactions began. These forest-powered characters have tons of options when it comes to team builds, and choosing the right one makes all the difference for your battles.
So which Dendro characters are actually the best in Genshin Impact? And which ones are kind of a flop? That's what we're about to break down. We're going from the lowest tier to the best. If you're looking for that extra edge in Genshin Impact, mastering the Dendro element with a well-crafted team comp might be just the ticket. It all starts with picking the best Dendro characters.
Sadly, it looks like the newest Dendro Characters have hit the ground with a thud. Remember Baizhu and Kaveh, from the Liyue area, the ones from Version 3.6? They had tons of potential. But, in the world of Genshin Impact, that doesn't always translate to strength, and when it comes to the Dendro characters they have to deal with the big competition. Both characters tried to be a jack-of-all-trades— healers, Dendro appliers, and Support characters, but ultimately, there are better options out there for all three roles. It's almost like they're stuck in neutral, making the rest of your team struggle to carry them.
Another 4-star Character from Genshin Impact that wasn’t exactly the Best, was Collei. While it's awesome she was one of the first, her damage output is not the strongest in Genshin Impact, even though her skill in spreading Dendro really is stellar!
Next up, there are a couple of Dendro heroes that aren’t the strongest, but can still hold their own when built correctly. Kirara, a 4-star yokai, is basically a Support character who can create a shield, and boy can that shield protect your team, and who doesn't like to keep the rest of the team safe? The only downside is that there are more efficient and powerful shielders in Genshin Impact, so there's only so much she can offer!
Remember Yaoyao? Yeah, this young Liyue hero tried her luck as a Dendro applier and healer all in one! Sadly, there are characters who are just more specialized and powerful in those two roles, which puts her in the middling category.
Here's where the excitement begins to ramp up! The Dendro Traveler - yes, the main character of Genshin Impact can switch over to the Dendro element! Now, this was kind of a shock at first because the Traveler didn’t do too well as other elements. But that totally changed when the game introduced Sumeru. Not exactly a powerful character on its own, but it definitely holds its own as an amazing off-field character who can make those elemental reactions explode!
The Dendro Traveler really shines as a sub-DPS character (so not the main damage dealer!) but it can really step things up as a support for the rest of your team! Best of all, you don't have to pull for it, you already have the character, ready for a bit of Dendro action!
This is where the game gets good! The top of our Dendro list has characters who bring the power. We're talking Tighnari - released alongside Collei - who makes a lot of players' wish list and he can dish out the Dendro damage. While his skillset is different from some other archers, he can seriously kick some enemy butt!
Tighnari, who relies on Elemental Damage for that serious damage potential, and his super easy build makes him super viable in any battle. And then there's Emilie, a really good 4-star character from Fontaine (that's the newest area!) she's awesome as a Dendro off-field sub-DPS who really gets that damage going. She specializes in boosting Burning (one of the Dendro Reactions, and yeah, it's powerful but sometimes overlooked!).
Hold on to your hats! Now we're getting into the creme de la creme of Dendro. There's Alhaitham who has taken his place as the reigning king of Dendro Damage! It's so crazy good, he can even challenge those mighty DPS from other elements! His skills in Dendro, the Elemental Mastery boost, and making those reactions go haywire are almost legendary.
But the queen bee of the forest (and the whole Dendro element) is none other than the Dendro Archon – Nahida. She’s more than a support character in Genshin Impact – she can absolutely wreck some serious damage. And don’t forget how easy it is to build her with Elemental Mastery! Yeah, she makes the rest of your team a lot stronger and when you’re looking at Dendro characters, she’s a real game changer, for sure!
With a new region called Natlan coming, we know they’ll be adding even more awesome Dendro characters (because that's how HoYoverse does things) so the fight for those Dendro Team Comps just gets more exciting.
