Why Was Thor Crying in Deadpool & Wolverine? 5 Theories
You probably remember Deadpool & Wolverine – the movie with tons of crazy cameos and a lot of hilarious moments. But one part that has been on everyone's minds is the moment where Thor was holding a supposedly-dying Deadpool in his arms. He even had tears running down his face, for real. So what's the deal? That seems pretty emotional!
Some fans think that part might foreshadow something really huge for the MCU, because we know that both Thor and Deadpool are known for showing up at the weirdest times in other Marvel Movies. Maybe it has to do with The Avengers: Secret Wars and maybe it involves a wild time-traveling theory about The Avengers: Doomsday or the entire multiverse.
Was Deadpool Just Pranking Thor?
First of all, we know Deadpool loves playing tricks. I mean, remember those fourth-wall breaks, and how much he pokes fun at Marvel itself? If we take that kind of Deadpool craziness to heart, then maybe this moment was a super-elaborate prank that he set up for poor Thor, knowing his super powers would have helped a lot. The joke is basically Deadpool trying to trick everyone because we know he's got a knack for tricking Thor and getting some laughs. That scene may be completely fake for all we know, which makes us think if the prank is so huge, maybe the payoff won't come in the Movies we’ve already seen.
But if the scene was a real one for Thor, that’s kind of intense! If Deadpool did die, imagine how Thor would feel if he found out later that Wade can heal from almost any injury! Talk about a moment of "oh, you made me cry over that? I can’t believe this!" I wonder how that would affect their friendship – after a scene like that, we know it'll probably involve more "serious” scenes.
Is Deadpool Actually Dying?
Remember the ending of Deadpool 2 when Wade sacrificed himself for his crew? This one takes a pretty serious turn – Deadpool might actually be dying for the first time in the movies. Think about it, what happens if Deadpool and Thor show up together to fight that major “end of the universe” thing. With the major Marvel movie “cameo party” events in the works right now (think The Avengers: Secret Wars and maybe some of those Doomsday storylines), maybe Deadpool has finally met his maker and it happened after his long journey. And that would be kind of epic.
Thor’s emotional outburst is another strong indication that he and Wade are now true comrades. It would totally explain that crying scene – imagine if this wasn't part of a grand trick, but just some kind of bonding experience? This could become the reason for their bromance! And I bet you a lot of people are excited for that kind of bromance – it would totally give some gravitas to Deadpool, especially since Thor has had such a hard time coming back from losing Loki (don’t remind him!).
What if Deadpool Told Thor that Loki Was Alive?
Whoa! This theory throws the whole thing onto the time-travel scene with those Marvel Universe oddities we saw in Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool would have already seen that Loki’s survived his run-in with Thanos. Think of how much of a game-changer that would be for Thor, if he actually discovered that his little brother was alive – maybe not the same Loki but some Loki from a different dimension. Knowing the Loki, this theory might get super real – he was in this TVA storyline in the Marvel series, so Deadpool knows about the variants from that universe, which explains why we saw some real "Loki-themed" references in the film. And honestly, what would Deadpool’s response be?
Imagine if Deadpool learned that this other Loki would never see his big brother Thor again. Would Deadpool just stand there and laugh? Would he try to take on the entire TVA to reunite the brothers, like, a total bromance move for a super messed up brother relationship. I bet those Marvel writers are already writing this out for season two of Loki! It just makes so much sense!
Did Mr. Paradox Fake That Outburst?
Here’s a wildcard theory, a super interesting, maybe even creepy, twist, that focuses on a key character from Deadpool & Wolverine, the one they meet at The TVA - Mr. Paradox! It could be that Paradox was just trying to use Deadpool to take over the TVA, like a super sneaky scheme. If the scene is entirely fabricated - the characters might have just been stand-ins! After all, the TVA has some messed up power – like messing with timelines, which means they can even rewrite scenes!
This doesn't really address what that would mean for Thor! Does this “emotional outburst" from Thor go back in time as well, which would mean a huge change to his emotional arc in the other films! Paradox had a pretty epic run-in with the TVA – and if the dude is actually capable of this, it could be super messed up. Then again, Paradox was also a pretty big criminal, and maybe it would have ended differently. But hey, at least he's got some serious time in the TVA which means we might hear his version of this whole mess.
Maybe Thor Was the Last One Standing... And He's Gonna Get Wrecked!
This last theory brings up something way intense - Thor being a god with super-human endurance means he would definitely last a lot longer than other heroes! We can imagine some major cosmic battle, where some epic evil guy ends up killing a ton of superheroes before getting to the ones that are stronger. Thor probably stands alone! He just had to hold out long enough! We know that Deadpool heals from the craziest injuries! He gets a ton of wounds, and maybe it took time for him to finally get totally wiped out. I know, right?
So this kind of brings us to why Thor was crying in that scene! If the scene really did play out, then imagine Thor realizing Deadpool was truly gone and no amount of crazy healing was going to fix that. That’s heavy stuff! That could mean this moment was real and the real question is, "How does the MCU pull this off and still bring back the fourth wall-breaking hero that’s a little too self-aware for all of those Marvel adventures!
The Future of Thor, Deadpool, and the MCU – It's Wild!
We are already so ready for more cameos, those movie easter eggs that drive Marvel fans crazy! Deadpool & Wolverine did a great job with that, and all that speculation and talk about these wild theories just make us really want to get back to the MCU! We know there are so many awesome stories and big changes, but what really matters is where Thor and Deadpool fit into it all! Are those theories just theories? Did Deadpool really die? Are the guys we saw in that scene real? Maybe the only way to answer those questions is to go watch the movies – because hey, a good superhero movie is always a great distraction! And in the end, that’s why we all watch!
