Who should be Upton's replacement for Intelligence in Chicago PD Season 12?
Given the current level of intelligence, losing Upton is a major loss for Chicago Police. Hank Voight has been running a slimmer squad than in past seasons of the show. Halstead left suddenly, then Upton stepped forward to serve as Voight's right hand. Though that didn't happen, there were rumors that Voight's kidnapping would bring Antonio Dawson back for the Chicago PD season 11 finale. That does not exclude that from happening, though. Jon Seda cannot be stopped from returning, hence intelligence requires someone already trustworthy like Dawson.
Should that not be the case, Chicago PD Season 12 can just retain Petrovic. Given that Upton is already well ingrained in Intelligence, this is maybe the simplest approach to replace him. Although she has personal problems, it seems that Upton truly helped her kick drugs. She will definitely be useful with Voight's surgeries going on as long as she stays on that straight road. Another thing to consider is her somewhat casual relationship with Upton, which helps one to accept her.
Show Boss gives Upton's Chicago PD Replacement a disappointing update.
Showrunner Gwen Sigan provides an honest assessment on the hunt for Hailey Upton's Replacement in Chicago PD Season 12. Not long after Jesse Lee Soffer left Chicago PD season 10 as Jay Halstead, his on-screen partner followed suit as Upton struggled to adjust in view of their divorce. Spiridakos's character needed a change so she could have a fresh start following her husband's abandonment, even if she tried to forward by emphasizing her career. Officially writing her out of One Chicago, the Chicago PD season 11 finale left the position of Intelligence next year more interesting.
Members departing the production are cast under Chicago PD. Usually someone fresh fills in to cover the void, and Upton is expected to be no different. Sigan disclosed in a recent TV Line interview, though, that they still haven't decided on a successor for Intelligence. Josephine Petrovic insisted that nothing is set in stone just yet even although she was the obvious choice. See her whole quotation below:
Though it also prepares the path for the return of a Beloved Original Character, Chicago PD Season 11 Finale Ends With Hank Voight's Near-Death Experience.
Whichever Upton's Replacement they introduce, what matters is Chicago PD adding more people to join Intelligence. Seeing Voight's staff shrinking year after year worries me. The program used to rely mostly on its ensemble approach, but because it's hardly an ensemble today, it's getting more challenging. Rebuilding its core cast is the first step towards NBC and Wolf Entertainment returning the procedural back to its origins.
NBC's 2024-2025 fall TV lineup will feature Chicago PD season 12 debut.
Looking for a New Officer
Not yet; we still know nothing. Next week we return to the [writers] room and will have a lot of work to sort out. Still, I adored Petrovic on the show this season. [Bojana Novakovic] seemed to be such a pro, and she created [the character] her own. That role has so much nuance and was performed brilliantly.
Though season 12 is set to start production in the next weeks, Sigan's comment is very concerning for fans wishing for a flawless transition since it shows that the showrunners are not sure about how to proceed.
Chicago PD's background
Based on Chicago Fire, this police procedural drama tracks Chicago Police Department investigators and uniformed patrol officers as they try to solve cases and lock offenders behind bars.
The program has aired for eleven seasons already and has produced a somewhat devoted following. Chicago PD is a show that will probably remain a favourite given its compelling characters and gripping narratives. Viewers have also found great attraction in the show's ability to mix emotional narratives with great police drama.
