Manual Sarah Manning
Introduced in the first episode of *Orphan Black*, "Natural Selection*, Tatiana Maslany's main Project Leda clone is Sarah Manning, one of only two clones that avoided Neolution's careful eye. Amelia, her birth mother, fled prior to birth her twins. She handed one to the state and one to the church; Sarah was the twin visiting the state.
Given that the Clones were created purposefully sterile, Sarah is the only Leda clone who was able to conceive naturally—a miracle—and she loves her daughter Kira very much. She wound up under the care of Siobhan Sadler, who relocated Sarah and her foster brother Felix to America to keep her away from the grasp of those searching for her. Siobhan, who forcefully pointed out Sarah "took all of the attitude, none of the politics" from the music, helped Sarah develop her love of punk rock.
Becky Childs
Following Sarah, the next clone Tatiana Maslany viewers see in *Orphan Black* is Beth Childs, who kills herself right away by leaping in front of a train. Along with Alison Hendrix and Cosima Niehaus, police investigator Beth Childs was part of the first "Clone Club" and was applying her talents to help solve the riddle of the Clones and the disease plaguing some of them. Beth's research brought her across the Proletheans, a sect of religious radicals who regard the clones as abominations.
This resulted in Beth killing a Prolethean named Maggie Chen, which led to her suspension and an internal probe into the civilian gunshot. Between the shock of the shooting and her unfulfilling love for her boyfriend and monitor, Paul Beth's mental health descended into a downward spiral finally leading to the train station.
Katy Obinger
Sarah soon runs across additional Project Leda clones after she begins looking at why Beth, the lady she saw, jumped in front of a train, looked just like her. One of only a few clones in Europe, Katja Obinger, a Germany born clone, is the next copy of Sarah Tatiana Maslany portrays in *Orphan Black*. Often called "The German," poor Katja Obinger's appearance in *Orphan Black* was fleeting. The newest member of Clone Club, Katja flew all the way to Canada with documentation and samples from clones living in Europe.
Like many of the Leda clones, Katja was suffering from a respiratory condition; she hoped her sisters would help her discover a solution. Katja believed she may find a cure with the help of her sisters; she was suffering from the respiratory disease that many of the Leda clones contracted. Helena ended Katja's life with a sniper gunshot to the brain shortly after she saw through Sarah's mask of Beth, before she could discover who she was really talking to.
Ardyanna Giordano
Sarah finds several of the other Project Leda clones via Katja. Though some of them only present themselves as pictures, Tatiana Maslany nevertheless performs all of them as many of them are probably dead by the time the show opens, having either been slain or fallen victim to the enigmatic ailment Katja is trying to discover a treatment for. Aryanna Giordano was one of the European Project Leda clones.
Among the files Katja carries with her are IDs of numerous clones all throughout Europe who Helena already killed. Little else is known about Aryanna Giordano, a Leda clone grown in Italy. Then her picture surfaced once more in *Orphan Black* season 1, episode 8, "Entangled Bank". One of the other Project Leda clones, Cosima provides a chart listing every known clone. Aryanna's picture shows on the chart with a red X next to it indicating that she had in fact been slain.
Janika Zingler
Katja also brings with her another ID—that of Janika Angler, a clone born in Salzburg, Austria. Like Aryanna, Janika dead before *Orphan Black* starts, killed by Helena. Her picture also shows up on Sarah's passport as she gathers Katja's paperwork from the hotel; albeit the briefcase also had some of Janika's hair and blood samples.
Although clones like Janika and Aryanna didn't have a big role on the show, including their passports helped highlight the immersion and lore of *Orphan Black* greatly and demonstrated just how far Neolution and Project Leda really could stretch. She appears on Cosima's chart in "Entangled Bank" as well, and like Aryanna, she has a red X next to her name along with the death date. In July 2012 Helena killed her. Helena killed three clones: Aryanna was the second; the first was an unidentified European clone.
Danielle fournier
Danielle Fournier was the last European clone seen solely in the first season of *Orphan Black* under a passport picture. Living in Paris, France, Danielle was the last clone slain by Helena before Sarah came upon Beth Childs and the events of *Orphan Black* started. For Janika and Aryanna as well, it is unclear who watched Danielle.
Danielle Fournier just shows in an ID picture and not much is known about her, same as Janika Zingler and Aryanna Giordano. Her good head of curly hair helped set her apart from the pictures of Janika and Aryanna slightly. Her blood samples likewise fit Katja's briefcase; the vial was marked "Patient # 84-2389263."
Alison Hindrix
Following Catja and Beth, Tatiana Maslany's third clone presented in *Orphan Black* is Alison Hendrix, who also happens to be the first viewers see in season 1's "Instinct" and would subsequently be a frequent visitor on the show. The third fellow clone Sarah visits in the flesh is Alison Hendrix, who promptly dismisses any idea that soccer mothers aren't a force to be reckoned with.
Alison is married to Donnie, her monitor; they adopted two children together. Alison is part of the original Clone Club and, since she didn't have police access like Beth or science expertise like Cosima , she contributed to the sisterhood by giving Beth a $75,000 "self-defense fund." Alison is desperate to just lead a normal life and hates being a clone so much that she tries to forbid use of the word in Clone Club — though, clearly, she wasn't successful in this particular endeavour.
Cosima Niehaus
First seen in "Instinct," Cosima Niehouse is one of the most important clones Tatiana Maslany plays in *Orphan Black*. Leading the push in search of a solution for the clones' enigmatic ailment, hippie scientist Cosima becomes even more vital when she herself begins to cough blood. Cosima functions as a mediator between the hot-headed Sarah and the tightly wound Alison as she studies for her Ph.D. in Experimental Evolutionary Developmental Biology, sometimes known as "Evo-Devo,".
But even Cosima lets her feelings control her when she thinks Delphine, the gorgeous French woman wanting to befriend her, is a monitor dispatched by Neolution to keep a watch on her. Cosima's argument that she could learn something by getting close to Delphine and doing a bit of reverse-monitoring is motivated by something a little more primal than the scientific method.
Helena
Easily the most dangerous clone played by Tatiana Maslany in *Orphan Black* is Helena, the murderous and unmonitored Project Leda experiment who is a main antagonist in the show's first season. In *Orphan Black* season 1, Sarah learns from her birth mother that the psychotic clone stalking and assassinating the others is actually her twin, Helena. Born apart, Sarah and Helena were left with a Ukrainian Convent while Sarah was under loving care from Siobhan Sadler.
Helena ended up with the Proletheans when Amelia handed her to the church; they weaponized her against her fellow clones. At the start of the series, Helena has been brainwashed into thinking that she's the original and all the other clones are aberrations that must be eliminated. Despite her early villainous behavior, however, Helena ends up becoming a core member of Clone Club and finding a real family.
Rachel Duncan
One of the most ruthless, cold, and calculating clones played by Tatiana Maslany in *Orphan Black* is Rachel Duncan — an antagonist who, unlike Helena, doesn't have any kind of redemption arc or sympathetic qualities. Most of the Leda clones were kept oblivious to their true nature (unlike their Castor brothers, who were raised in the military and are self-aware). Rachel Duncan is the exception: a child raised by Neolution.
Rachel takes her last name from the scientists Ethan and Susan Duncan, who developed the LEDA and CASTOR cloning projects and brought her up as their own daughter in an apparently loving home. Rachel serves as an example of what the Leda clones strengths - Cosima's intelligence, Sarah's defiance, Alison's fierceness when threatened, and Helena's killer instinct - look like when they take a truly villainous form.
M.K.
One of the clones Tatiana Maslany played that appeared later in *Orphan Black* was M.K., who also had one of the most tragic storylines in the show. Introduced in *Orphan Black* season 4 and expanded upon in the comic book series *Orphan Black: Helsinki*, Veera "M.K." Suominen (referred to affectionately as "Mika" by the Clone Club) is revealed to have been working with Beth to uncover the conspiracy behind the clones. M.K. was hit harder by Beth's suicide than perhaps any of the other clones, as Beth was one of the few people in her life she could trust.
Later, M.K. reaches out to the remaining clones to warn them that Neolution is catching up to them. An adept computer hacker, she prefers to communicate via webcam while wearing a sheep mask. Like Cosima, M.K. contracts the respiratory illness that affects so many of the Leda clones. Sadly, she's murdered before Cosima is able to find the cure.
Jennifer Fitzsimmons
Jennifer is a younger clone played by Tatiana Maslany (though only because she died several years before the show takes place) and is seen only through her video diaries. A teacher and swim coach, Jennifer Fitzsimmons was the first of the Leda clones to show signs of the respiratory illness that also affected Cosima and Katja. While she doesn't have much impact on the narrative of the show from her perspective of Sarah's story, she does deliver some key exposition when it comes to the mysterious respiratory illness that affects the clones.
Cosima is introduced to Jennifer in *Orphan Black* season 2 via a series of video diaries that she kept from the start of her illness all the way up until her death. For Cosima, Jennifer is a vision of her own future — one that she gets uncomfortably close to when she performs an autopsy on the deceased clone. Delphine Cormier also reveals that Jennifer was the first clone to show symptoms of the illness, falling victim to it around half a year before Katja.
Krystal Goderitch
A clone that Tatiana Maslany only played for seven episodes of *Orphan Black* was Krystal Goderitch, though she was definitely one of the most humorous and memorable. Though she might seem like a dumb blonde stereotype, manicurist Krystal Goderitch proves that she has the same drive, boldness, and (admittedly misguided) intelligence as her sisters. After being attacked by Castor clones Rudy and Seth, Krystal comes to realize that there's a conspiracy afoot and starts independently investigating it.
Unlike the other clones, Krystal flat-out dismisses the clone story as nonsense on the basis that Sarah looks nothing like her ("she's like a seven on a good day, and I've been told I'm a ten"). Admittedly, she gets the details of the conspiracy wrong and decides that it's all part of corruption in the beauty industry, but she got the general picture of powerful people working in the shadows correct. Like the other clones who make a living appearance in *Orphan Black*, Krystal Goderitch is eventually introduced to one of her doubles and told she is a clone.
Tony Sawicki
Tony Sawicki is a transgender clone who appears in just one episode of *Orphan Black*, after his monitor is gunned down and asks him to pass on a message to Beth Childs. This leads Tony to Art, who takes him to Felix's place. A long day of verbal sparring and flirtation ensues, in which it becomes clear that Tony is cut from the same cloth as Sarah in terms of personality as well as genes.
Tony is remarkably calm when he finally learns that he's a clone, only commenting on how hot all of the clones are. With the Dyad Institute on his trail, Tony is instructed to get on a bus and get as far away as possible. He's also given a Clone Club phone and told to call if he ever gets in trouble. Since he never calls, we can optimistically assume that he made a clean escape and started a new life elsewhere.
Miriam Johnson
Miriam is another clone who is only introduced after she's already died, and appeared only in the *Orphan Black* season 5 episode "Gag Or Throttle". Raised by an alcoholic mother, Miriam ended up living on the streets. She was a musician with a powerful creative streak, but she was unfortunate enough to attract the attention of Rachel when Miriam developed uterine growths.
Unwilling to wait for Miriam to die of natural causes, Rachel killed her so that she could examine her body — a callous act that shocked even Aldous Leekie. Given that she's clearly into punk music, it's likely that she and Sarah would have gotten along. While she never appeared alive on-screen, what's revealed about Miriam is a sad and tragic tale, and it shows that life for the Project Leda clones was a lottery, with some having happy existences while others were seemingly doomed to suffer.
Unnamed Clone
In a flashback in *Orphan Black* season 5, we see the first clone that Helena ever killed. Unfortunately, Helena doesn't stop to ask her name. The sestra is praying in a church when Helena comes up from behind and stabs her in the back. Afterwards, she is visibly shaken to see her own face staring back up at her from the dying woman.
The Unnamed Clone is perhaps the most mysterious clone played by Tatiana Maslany throughout the entirety of *Orphan Black*, with nothing known about her except that she was one of the handful of clones Neolution distributed in Europe. Like many of the clones who aren't a prominent feature of the show, her purpose was more expostionary and as a narrative device, since it's clear from the flashback that her death had a significant impact on Helena's psyche.
Camilla Torres
The very last clone played by Tatiana Maslany to be introduced in *Orphan Black* is Camilla Torres, a clone in Colombia who'd succumbed to the respiratory illness. Camilla Torres appears towards the end of the series finale, and is the final clone that the show introduces before its conclusion. As such, very little is known about Camilla, and her presence mainly serves to reinforce just how widespread Project Leda was.
Camillia also has the respiratory illness, but is able to receive the cure from Delphine. Cosima is present and eavesdrops while Camilla receives the cure, but chooses to turn her head away when her new sister leaves, leaving Camilla unaware of her clone status. Camilla remains completely oblivious to the fact she's a clone in *Orphan Black*, and is left to live out her life in blissful ignorance of Project Leda, Neolution, or anything else experienced by Sarah and her other genetic sisters.
