Dragon Ball is a huge multimedia series spanning back to the 1980s from the creative mind of Akira Toriyama. Originally serialized manga for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan, Dragon Ball grew rapidly. It found its way abroad via a manga and an anime version enjoyed all around. Originally commencing with the exploits of the young Son Goku as he pursued the Dragon Balls, Dragon Ball was the first animated series. Any person who gathered these enchanted balls would be granted their wish. The show would then veer off into the wildly popular Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku as an adult and had high-intensity combat and Goku's never-ending drive to be the strongest. Up to the most recent successful Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the series has also had multiple popular video game adaptations and still running several new animated series and theatrical movies.
The success of Dragon Ball results from several elements: a gripping story; dynamic characters and character growth; and its depiction of the force of friendship, teamwork, and tenacity. All of this has made the franchise a cultural powerhouse and global sensation.
