Remender has built a trail in creator-owned comics across his career, and with the revelation of his exclusive Giant Generator agreement with Image Comics in 2023 he staked a fresh claim. Part of that imprint and promise is The Tin Can Society; the concept comes from Remender but the work is all Warren, Mobili, and colorist Chris Chuckry. The Tin Can Society offers a novel interpretation of well-known comic-book themes with a close-knit cast of characters and a twist on the venerable Superhero narrative. In the words of Remender:
I had a tale idea rumbling about for several years, but it wasn't until I discussed it with Peter Warren's brilliant intellect that the project came together and it was abundantly evident he was the guy to write it. Two things Peter shines at: this kind of narrative calls for complex characters and heart above all else. Working with him has made developing it rather joyful. Inspired by his intense passion of comics, he has carried this story in remarkably creative ways; we are immensely happy of the outcome.
Coming this fall from Rick Remender's Image Comics brand, The Tin Can Society is a Murder Mystery, a Superhero story with disabled themes, a friendship tale, and so much more. Only Screen Rant provides the first look and initial details of this fantastic new series.
The Tin Can Society #1, the start of a new miniserie under Remender's Giant Generator imprint, has been announced by Image Comics. Launching on September 11th with Remender consulting on the script, The Tin Can Society comes from artist Francesco Mobili and screenplay Peter Warren (THE Auteur).

This Image Comics series is an exciting fresh arrival into Remender's Giant Generator line, and the work of seasoned scriptwriter Warren and illustrator Mobili will definitely cast fresh and unexpected light on traditional themes and clichés. Remender remarks, "Every page is a wonder to behold," and "these guys are an absolute apocalypse of artistic greatness."

With the extra twist of that friend being a superhero and "tech mogul" who designed new mobility aids for persons with impairments, like himself, this new creator-owned miniseries tracks a group of childhood friends as they try to investigate their friend's murder. Warren in an exclusive comment states:
The Tin Can Society is a moving, sad, and very human investigation of how a group of best friends negotiate changing relationships as they get older. The Tin Can Society is a page-turning Murder Mystery about childhood friendships tested by ableism, celebrity, riches and jealousy, with amazing art by Francesco Mobili and gorgeous color by Chris Chuckry.
Beyond the turns on superheros and murder mysteries, The Tin Can Society promises to tackle Disability, a real-world subject sometimes neglected in comics. "This is a profoundly human story about friendship, disability, life, death and a murder... and yeah, there's also some super hero stuff in it!" Mobili, series artist, comments. Mobili also stresses the part friendship and love play in the series: "beginning from the love we are pouring into the book, up to the love guiding this group of friends through their lives. A love that lets other emotions coexist when awful events mark the passage of life."
Known for his work pioneering mobility aids for those with disabilities (like himself) as much as for moonlighting as the metal-suited vigilante, CALIBURN, Johnny Moore is a world-famous tech mogul. But when Johnny is discovered dead and his suit taken, his estranged closest buddies get back together to try to figure out his murder. A sincere and compassionate look at the development of friendships over a lifetime, at handicap and ableism, and the damaging influence of celebrity, THE TIN CAN SOCIETY The book is a superhero narrative told as though Stephen King were writing it. More the Stand by Me variant than the horror form of King. This is the tale of several children who grew up together, one of which developed into a superhero. Our book opens with his death and the rest of them trying to find out who killed him.
