Series Ending: Mrs. Zhang's Fate & Family Future Reflected On By Star
Star of Sweet Tooth Rosalind Chao has considered Mrs. Zhang's destiny as well as the fate of the Family and detailed what she thinks happened after the show ended. After trying to eradicate all hybrids, Zhang is at the mercy of Gus and his party in the Sweet Tooth series finale; although vanquished, she is left for dead, her fate apparently one of dying trying to make it down the mountain.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Chao revealed she thinks Mrs. Zhang survived following the end of Sweet Tooth season 3. The actress noted how creative her character is and how her impact over others probably helped her to take control over the younger members of the Family. Look at Chao's comment down below:
What might happen should Mrs. Zhang survive Sweet Tooth?
Given Sweet Tooth has finished, it is unclear whether Zhang made it down the mountain, let alone survived the difficult conditions she most certainly encountered. She most certainly did not survive; her narrative finishes with Gus and his buddies defeating her. Though creative, Chao insists she most likely survived, which might pose a concealed risk to hybrids depending on her ultimate strength.
But the last episode also revealed Gus was Sweet Tooth's narrator all along, implying a bright future for hybrids decades down ahead. Although Zhang might have survived and possibly rebuilt the Family, the burning down of the antler tree would certainly not be generating generational effects that would prolong their reign. She might still be a temporary hazard to hybrids, hence any plans she had wouldn't substantially affect their future.
A Thought About the Last Scene
She would not give up readily, in my opinion, and if someone could survive that kind of circumstance, the woman could return worse than before. I would not put anything past her; I think she is able to make people believe she is one way, then turn around that. She is therefore almost certainly able of virtually anything. The result is clear; we know everything is fine, but at the time, before I had seen it, I was thinking, "She's not the type, she's not going to regret it. She would make it, she wouldn't die in that surroundings. That lady is not dying." She is like the insect you keep trying to kill; they still sneak out of it. The kind of person that woman is. [Chuckles}
She could captivate the younger one back and use her slyness to rule people once more. I absolutely do. Those people are quite creative, to put it mildly—that is, those without a sense of self-worth, which she seems to lack—that is, we get a little window of it in episode 3, when she first sees the children. She truly wanted to treasure the kids and was hoping, but that darn baby bit her finger and I think it let something inside her free. I'm not sure; maybe I'm being too severe. It can go differently. She won never be the perfect mother, though, I don't think.
Finale of Sweet Tooth and Fate of Big Man
Even stabbing Big Man and leaving his destiny as unknown as her own, she still managed to threaten the Sweet Tooth cast until the very end. Even if Zhang may have rebuilt her army, the likelihood that she might influence mankind's inevitable destruction is rather slim. The flash-forward at the end demonstrates that any plans she may have had failed in the long run, even if there could be some uncovered history revealing she was alive and ongoing threat.

Sweet Tooth: a TV Novel
The Sweet Tooth draws on the same-title comic book series. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States not too far in future, where a terrible viral epidemic has devastated the planet. Following the plague wiped off the world's population, certain children began to be born with animal and human hybrid features. Thinking hybrids are the source of the virus, many people are terrified of hybrids. After his father is killed, young deer hybrid Gus (Christian Convery) sets out to locate his mother with the help of loner and wanderer Tommy Jeppard (Nonso An Ozie).
