If you're wondering where it all began, you have to go back to 2003. This was when this new and creative world IGPX was introduced! At that point, it was presented as a microseries. Meaning it only ran for short, intense episodes! It took things to another level in 2005. It became a huge project. Bringing Cartoon Network and Production I.G., a production studio that has created countless classic series, including some amazing titles like Ghost in the Shell, together!

That made this a big win for both groups.

The production team really went above and beyond to get everything right!

In fact, they had some pretty awesome talent helping with some incredible animation.

  • Mitsuru Hongo, is a big name when it comes to these sorts of series!
  • Hongo created incredible productions such as "Outlaw Star" and "Reideen."

Hongo really pushed to make things unique for this series and even had ideas about making these mecha battles three dimensional.

They took "IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix" to a totally new level, but how does the animation stack up?

Well, in 2005 they were super ambitious in creating incredible animation and took things up another notch for a more sleek and clean presentation! Production I.G. made these robots incredibly powerful. Their 3-D animation shows off how strong these machines truly are as well as all the powerful motion, as the show makes this seem super lifelike, with some really cool moves, particularly during battle. Even more amazing is the visual animation was super incredible, the 3-D elements gave "IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix its own special touch, with incredible detail, even as you get up close and see just how impressive each robot is.

Stellar Characters

It seems that you have some characters from the 1990s and 2000s who will forever be iconic.

Some of the top actors like Haley Joel Osment from The Sixth Sense, gave us the epic character of Takeshi Jin.

  • If you don't recognize "Liz" then you will once you watch IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix.
  • A fan favorite character is Liz Ricarro. It seems that Michelle Rodriguez who was a super awesome part of The Fast and The Furious franchise had such an impact.
  • Amy Stapleton and Hynden Welch!

You've also got an all star cast with names you recognize. "IGPX". If you ever loved "Star Wars"! What made it even more unique was these stars: "Mark Hamill," "Tom Kenny," and "Peter Cullen," who had appeared on "Toonami."!

If you thought the talent wasn't epic enough! They had a whole Japanese roster as well.

With one major voice missing.

  • A well known figure and very talented, Emi Shinohara. It appears that you can't get better with these great voices and even some of these iconic Japanese voices.

Beyond The Voice Talent

Even more powerful is the IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix series that shows these characters! There was a reason this Anime was so engaging.

It showed that the main protagonist in "IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix" is a great athlete. This is because Takeshi Jin is super competitive and wants to make it to the big leagues. The team in "IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix also had a great deal of tension from Takeshi Jin's big personality.

A strong, independent woman? Liz really does show up as the opposite of Takeshi with a very independent personality but in the series, you see that she was a pretty close confidant! You can see how Liz had a great chemistry with him, giving viewers the impression that things might work out in the long term, even though it seemed like it was a bit rocky between them!

The last part of the group was Amy, a little different. It looked as if she could connect with her cat using this super advanced cybernetic brain. You can say this is what helped to make her really unique!

All of this has amazing moments when these heroes faced off against those who might look like big foes, but when you look at how these athletes fight you get an amazing, powerful and unique dynamic for viewers. Even with all the intense action it seems these athletes were the best, even if Team Satomi needed to upgrade from IG-2 to IG-1. It might sound a bit intense for everyone but this series isn't about really serious events, just some great characters you get to appreciate over all these episodes.
