What is Bleach?

Bleach, created by Tite Kubo, is about a normal high schooler named Ichigo Kurosaki. After a big incident, he gains powers of a Soul Reaper. Bleach has gone from a popular manga series to awesome Anime and animated movies!

Is the Series Just About Fighting?

Nope! The main focus is a big battle with these creatures called Hollows, which used to be humans but turned bad, as their souls get lost. Ichigo becomes the Soul Reaper to fight them, with his sword. You've gotta see these awesome Soul Reaper fights, they're cool, with lots of dramatic effects.
But the stories dive deep into so much Bleach lore and all the wild stuff happening in the Bleach world.
Even when they're just having casual fights - the characters' powers add lots of drama to the story, and you get some pretty incredible stuff on screen!

So Where Do The Soul Reapers Come From?

These Soul Reapers in Bleach are kind of like guardians. They've got super cool powers and skills, so they battle against Hollows and also protect souls - it's serious! They're a big part of what makes the story so compelling!

In those first Bleach episodes, you'll hear a lot about how Soul Reapers fight Hollows - so their purpose in the Bleach world is really about protecting people! The story is awesome!
But Tite Kubo, the author of Bleach, really changes things up. Hollows are actually kind of sad.

Where Can We See the "Hollows" Action?

You gotta see what they look like!

If you're into spooky monsters - Hollows are awesome. Those masks are pretty freaky and the story goes back to how some souls just got so corrupted!

Why Was Bleach's Early Fighting Different?

Early in Bleach, it was a huge rule that Soul Reapers had to stab Hollows from behind! This was to keep them from seeing the faces under their masks. If they saw the face - which might still look human, right? It might be so shocking, that the Soul Reaper would just freak out.
They had an intense battle where this actually happens, and Ichigo (the main character) saw his lost sister - Sora! It makes sense that it added drama. The series totally abandons the rules and it might make you miss it.

So get ready to enter this world of Bleach - It's super fun! I totally recommend it. I especially recommend checking out Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga! It’s even better than the show. The whole Bleach fandom is pretty cool, they are really passionate! It's almost a whole universe within itself! The characters - Ichigo, Soul Reapers, and all the Hollows - there's a whole world to explore!
