Veronica Mars & Batman: The Unexpected Crime-Fighting Duo That Could Work

Veronica Mars & Batman Are The Dream Team That No One Expected

An exciting piece of fan art pairs the unlikely dynamic duo of Veronica Mars and Batman, in what social media users are calling "the sequel The Batman deserves." Despite James Gunn insisting otherwise, fans continue to speculate about who could play Robin in the next Batman film – but this art makes an unexpectedly compelling case for another iconic pop culture detective.

Artist Dan Schkade posted on X, showcasing his Fan Art depiction of Kristen Bell's beloved TV character alongside the Caped Crusader, in classic Golden Age-style comic book art. Batman and Veronica Mars could not be more different as characters – one bubbly and sarcastic, the other brooding and stoic – which is precisely what makes them such a great pairing.

At the same time, the two detectives are more similar than audiences may give credit to, and in a dream scenario, they'd make an ideal partnership in crimefighting.

Artist Dan Schkade drew on the connections between the two characters in order to create a stand-out piece of Fan Art.

Veronica Mars Would Not Seem Out of Place In Gotham

Veronica Mars was the title character of the eponymous television series for four seasons (and a movie) which followed a former popular girl whose life was changed forever through tragedy. She reshapes herself and finds new meaning in her life by becoming a private investigator, working alongside her father, the local sheriff. On that basis, Veronica Mars and Bruce Wayne have surprisingly similar lives; as different as their approaches to crime-solving might be, this would make for an unexpectedly potent pairing.

Like Veronica, Bruce's life was shaped by tragedy. Bruce's life was changed forever and defined by the murder of his parents, just as Veronica was shaped by the murder of her best friend, Lilly. There would be no Batman without the tragedy that Bruce experienced as a small boy, just as Veronica likely wouldn't have founded Mars Investigations if not for everything she experienced.

She Would Make A Great Robin

The image of Veronica Mars and Batman side-by-side is a funny one to contemplate, but not as out of the ordinary as some may think outright. Truthfully, the sunny disposition that Veronica Mars would bring to the table in Gotham City isn't unlike the vibe that Robin brings to Batman's dynamic. Robin is the light that shines on Batman's darkness, and it's easy to see how Veronica could provide a similar light. Obviously, a crossover like this is unlikely, but given their similarities and skills, it's not hard to imagine Veronica Mars being the Girl Wonder to Bruce Wayne's Batman.
