Star Trek: The Enemy Perfect for Geordi
Geordi La Forge discovers himself caught on a stormy planet alongside a Romulan soldier in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3, episode 7, "The Enemy." Interference from the electromagnetic storms prevents Geordi from contacting the Enterprise and the ship must wait for a storm break to beam him back up. As Geordi approaches the beacon the Enterprise sends down for him, he is ambushed by Centurion Bochra, a Romulan soldier (John Snyder). Soon Geordi is unable to sight and Bochra finds difficulty walking as the electromagnetic radiation starts to cause neurological damage.
The Geordi La Forge of "The Enemy" and the one from "Booby Trap" cannot be reconciled easily. At points, La Forge is amusing, charming, cynical, intelligent, and sympathetic. He falls into a cavern then makes picks for himself to ascend a rock face in order to flee. Then he stays cool when Bochra captures him, finally persuading the Romulan to collaborate with him. Geordi not only shows why he is the Chief Engineer but also gets some quite excellent lines. La Forge also guides Bochra on how to negotiate to the beacon by connecting his tricorder with his VISOR.
Additionally a fantastic episode for Picard and Worf is TNG's "The Enemy".
Not only does Geordi La Forge's narrative fit "The Enemy," but Captain Picard and Lt. Worf (Michael Dorn) also have much to do. Picard must cope with Patahk (Steve Rankin), the injured Romulan soldier the away team rescued, while simultaneously stalling Romulan Commander Tomalak (Andreas Katsulas), who has come in quest of his soldiers as Geordi and Bochra fight to survive on Earth. Working to save Patahk, Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) finds that only Worf's blood will be usable for a transfusion. But Worf won't save the life of a Romulan as Romulans killed their parents at the Khitomer Massacre.
Given Worf's background, his denial to spare Patahk makes understandable; "The Enemy" shockingly proceeds with the Romulan's killing without a last-minute Star Trek fix. Worf is adamant in his decision even after Picard almost begs him to consent to the transfusion, stressing that Patahk's death would cause a war. Tomalak gets ready to fire on the Enterprise upon learning of Patahk's death. Geordi and Bochra are thankfully saved just in time for Picard to give Tomalak still another option. Picard gambles by reducing the Enterprise's shields and gets to give a stirring lecture about stopping a conflict. Picard's risk pays off; the Enterprise lives to see another day, and another outstanding Star Trek: The Next Generation Episode ends.
A Great Geordi Star Trek: TNG Episode Redeems One Of His Worst
On Star Trek: The Next Generation, Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) had one really terrible plot, but this outstanding episode saves him. Geordi, the Chief Engineer aboard the USS Enterprise-D, knows his way around a warp core, but he occasionally struggles with people. Geordi's best friend, the Android Lt. Commander Data (Brent Spiner), isn't exactly recognized for his social abilities, therefore it's a bit telling. La Forge is a prominent player in several Tng Episodes, but only a few show center stage and expose more about Geordi personally.
The low point for Geordi La Forge's agonizing "romance" with a holodeck version of Dr. Leah Brahms (Susan Gibney) in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3, episode 6, "Booby Trap" is In "Booby Trap," the Enterprise finds itself caught in a centuries-old net and La Forge calls Holo-Brahms to assist in escape. This would have been a great plot on its own, but Geordi develops affections for the Brahms reproduction, which pulls down the whole episode. But Geordi has an opportunity to shine in the next episode since he has to cooperate with an enemy to survive on a planet that is dangerously hot.
