Sonic Screwdriver Changes Colour in Doctor Who Season 14 by Ncuti Gatwa
Though its new appearance doesn't end at being significantly less sleek, Fifteen's Sonic appears far more like a remote control than it does a tool. Whereas in every other appearance it has been blue and silver, in "Rogue" the device is red and silver instead. Though he presumably made the change to match the color motif of his Bridgerton-inspired clothing that he sports for the whole episode, the Doctor isn't actively visible altering the hue of his Screwdriver.
Whether his Sonic can change color on demand or whether the casing has to be physically replaced is unknown. To avoid a fashion faux pas, the doctor can also have a variety of colored Screwdrivers. Fifteen is already really stylish since he hardly ever wears the same clothes twice. Though Gatwa's doctor lacks a "look" like that of all his forebears, adjusting the color of his Sonic Screwdriver so it doesn't conflict with his outfit is quite on-brand for the main character of this series.
Episode 6 of Doctor Who Season 14 introduces again another outstanding Sonic Screwdriver feature.
Fifteen's Screwdriver possesses additional ability transcending mere appearance. From the body of his Sonic, the Doctor flips what appears to be a small magnifying glass from Rogue's ship and peers through it to inspect the room. This is a fantastic addition to the Doctor's toolkit and lets him accomplish far more than just point-of-sale at objects.
Should this Sonic be able to create shields akin to David Tennant's Fourteenth Doctor's Screwdriver used in "The Star Beast," then it would be the most flexible and indispensible design in Doctor Who history.
The Sonic Scalable Tool
Many of the best Doctor Who stories ever have the Sonic Screwdriver among their elements. Not every actor portraying the Doctor, meanwhile, has approved of using the instrument. Luckily, the fifteenth doctor is a Time Lord variant always with at hand.
Though it looks somewhat different from the Sonic Screwdrivers of Doctors past, it is nevertheless quite helpful if not more so. The Doctor with a yellow and silver Sonic Screwdriver appears also in the Season 14 teaser.

Though it's not a novel idea, Doctor Who has expanded the capabilities of the very flexible skill that is the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver. In Doctor Who season 14, episode 6, "Rogue," Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor reveals a fresh side of his Sonic Screwdriver that his forebears either never had access to or neglected.
Another characteristic of the Doctor's legendary instrument that he employs in "Rogue" is most definitely unique to this Sonic variant. Though one is significantly more practical than the other, both provide benefits. Ncuti Gatwa's first full excursion as the Doctor is Doctor Who season 14, and he is joined by an interesting mix of fresh faces and returning actors.
Doctor Whose: A Classic Reviewed
Originally originally televised in 1963, Doctor Who is a sci-fi series about the Doctor—a powerful entity known as a Time Lord. Traveling time and space with different companions, the Doctor solves several problems and helps prevent catastrophe as much as he almost causes using an interdimensional time-traveling ship called the TARDIS. Though the Doctor is always the same character, they regenerate to be recast every few seasons as a different immortal being with fresh personality traits.
Given how masterfully Davies performed on his last term as showrunner, viewers have been ready for his return to the show. The franchise is eager about the fresh ideas the showrunner will bring to the series since Davies indicated he plans to use UNIT more often. UNIT might take the stage in fresh stories; perhaps the showrunner will be able to bring the production back alive.
