Where is the origin story of Soldier Boy?
With a background from the early 20th century, Soldier Boy is somewhat similar to The Boys universe's "Captain America". But unlike Cap, Soldier Boy came from Vought, a firm producing super-powered humans. Actually, he was born in 1919 to a wealthy but austere father, which somewhat explains some of his eccentricities. After joining the army during World War Two, Dr. Frederick Vought handed him Compound V, which transformed him into a super. Though he says he fought abroad, that's rather a falsehood. Promoting him as a hero who fought in the war, Vought made him a propaganda symbol for the US; yet, they would not risk losing him in combat. He thus was a poster boy more than a soldier.
Member of Soldier Boy's team?
Soldier Boy headed a group of superheroes known as Payback in the 1970s. Back then, he was a well-known face but also a somewhat erratic cannon. He killed Marvin Milk's grandfather, which somewhat reveals the type of man he is. Included in payback were Black Noir and Crimson Countess. Later, the team was dispatched on an expedition in Nicaragua during the 1980s, but things went sour. His own squad betrayed him, and he ended up under Soviet custody. Payback was glad to see him taken; Vought no longer gave a damn about him. While Homelander shot to fame in the US, the Soviets kept him in a lab for decades, experimenting on him.
What powers does Soldier Boy have?
Thanks to Compound V, Soldier Boy is remarkably strong and resilient. Though not as strong as Homelander, he is fairly potent. Since he's trained, he can also fight hand-to-hand; hence, he's a somewhat amazing. His coolest ability, though, is his capacity for radiation blast firing. Those came from the years the Russians mistreated him. The Boys planned to deploy him against Homelander since the blasts are quite devastating and can eliminate other supers' powers. As we seen with Crimson Countess, the blast can potentially be fatal.
Has Soldier Boy any bearing on Homelander?
Soldier Boy's dad in the "raise him" sense is not Homelander's dad. Still, his biological father is here. Soldier Boy provided a sample of his sperm for analysis way back in 1980. However, most people believe Stormfront is the mother since sperm were ultimately utilized to produce a child. Though he was overly strong, the intention was to make Homelander a controlled super.
In what capacity will Soldier Boy serve in The Boys season five?
Returning for the last run of The Boys is Soldier Boy. We know Homelander will be interacting since at the end of season 4 he visited him. Since Season 5 is the last one, Soldier Boy will be rather important in determining the fate of the narrative. He may be the key to murdering Homelander, with his odd fixation on him. Alternatively maybe Soldier Boy will simply consider Homelander as a loser. He might even revoke Homelander's authority! Seeing Homelander lose his abilities and grow into a regular guy would be absolutely fulfilling. Perhaps it is also how Soldier Boy passes away at last. When the Vought Rising prequel releases will help us know more!
