Masters Of The Air, the latest Apple miniseries, boasts an extensive ensemble of about 275 performers. Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, and others create the much awaited series with close thematic and stylistic references to their past critically praised war series, The Pacific and Band of Brothers. Third Wwii miniseries from the team first surfaced in 2012.

The show was confirmed to be under development at HBO in 2013, however Masters of the Air took some time to produce because of budget issues and production delays. Based on the 2006 book Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany published by Donald L. Miller, Apple bought the rights to the miniseries 2019. John Orloff, who penned the scripts for two Band of Brothers episodes, has developed the series for the movie.

Major Gale 'Buck' Cleven, Austin Butler

Born in Anaheim, California, Butler initially became well-known in the 2010s playing major roles in The Carrie Diaries and The Shannara Chronicles. But Butler's real performance of music icon Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's 2022 biopic Elvis, which Tom Hanks also stars in, has lately brought him notoriety. Early projects he worked on were Nickelodeon shows including iCarly and Zoey 101.

Austin Butler stars as the brilliant-eyed Major Gale 'Buck' Cleven, one of the main characters in the Wwii miniserie. Real-life airman Gale Cleven comes across as a cool and collected major with amazing flying ability. Native of South Dakota, the actual historical person was born in 1914. He later obtained a Ph.D. in Interplanetary Physics following World War Two.

Major John 'Bucky' Egan, Callum Turner

Actor Callum Turner co starred with Butler as Major John 'Bucky' Egan. Growing up in London, England, Turner got his big break in Hollywood when he played alongside Eddie Redmayne in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) as Theseus Scamander. Turner later starred Frank Churchill in Emma in 2020 and co-stars Joel Edgerton in George Clooney's 2023 historical sports drama, The Boys on the Boat.

Turner's role in Masters of the Air, John 'Bucky' Egan, is a fearless airman with a strong personality that occasionally lands him in hot water. Born in 1915 and dying in 1961, the actual historical person he is based on was Egan stayed in the Air Force following World War Two until his death; he was then posthumously awarded the Legion of Merit.

Barry Keoghan, Lt. Curtis Biddick

Barry Keoghan models Lt. Curtis Biddick from Masters of the Air. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, the 31-year-old actor first gained recognition after starring in Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of the Sacred Deer. Later, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the The Banshees of Inherin. Among Keoghan's other noteworthy movies and TV shows are HBO's Chernobyl (2019) and Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk (2017). Keoghan also appears opposite Jacob Elordi in 2023's Saltburn and momentarily played the Joker in a post-credits sequence of 2022's The Batman.

Character: Lt. Curtis Biddick, a New York-bred pilot not hesitant of risk, Masters of the Air Real Lt. Curtis Biddick grew up in Wisconsin rather than New York. Later on he lived in California.

Anthony Boyle portraying Major Harry Crosby

Anthony Boyle plays Major Harry Crosby in Masters of the Air. Boyle first became well-known for his theatrical talents, especially playing Scorpius Malfoy in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on the West End. Later, the Irish actor had his big break with 2019's Tolkien. Among Boyle's most well-known and current projects are Derry Girls and The Plot Against America. He also stars as John Wilkes Booth in the next Manhunt TV series.

Character: Major Harry Crosby, an airsick navigator, becomes indispensable to the 100th in Masters of the Air. Born in 1919 and dead in 2010, the real-life airman was also a well-known novelist and professor outside of his flying career. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks consulted his 1993 book A Wing and a Prayer as background material for Masters of the Air study.

Masters of the Air: Uncovering the Real History of the 100th Bomb Group

Rising stars Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, and Barry Keoghan in Apple Tv+ original military drama Masters of the Air Eleven World War II pilots battling German planes on a bomber known as "The Flying Fortress" form the basis of the show.The miniseries drew on the book Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller.

Over nine episodes, the miniseries Masters of the Air deftly tells the sad tale of the 100th Bomb Group, but it overlooks a few events or gets inaccurate. Beginning immediately before the D-Day invasion, it tracks the pilots and crew men of the 100th Bomb Group as they spend their time in England, then toward the bombing raids throughout Germany.
