The second season of the popular Disney+ series Goosebumps is finally coming, and while many thought the perfect timing would be during the Halloween season, the Release Date will actually be January 10th, 2025!

The Goosebumps franchise, born from the legendary book series by R.L. Stine, has terrified and entertained audiences for decades across books, movies, games, and previous TV Shows. The 1995 TV adaptation was an anthology of short spooky tales. This Disney+ version opted for serialized storytelling with a different adventure each season, beginning with the release of Season 1 on October 13, 2023 and finishing up on November 17, 2023. It had a new spin as it wasn't one big release of all episodes but a weekly rollout. It received very high praise which is why there's a new installment on the way.

Why the Delay?

Many fans expected Goosebumps: Season 2 to follow Season 1's release and show up during Halloween of 2024 but it seems that may have been too ambitious given the changes being made.

The series was renewed in February 2024.
Casting for Season 2 wrapped up in March 2024.
With a brand-new storyline and cast the filming required significantly more time!

Even if you might not be expecting something spooky in January, that's just how things are!

Goosebumps Season 2: The Vanishing

This time around, the show, which will premiere all at once this season instead of rolling it out weekly like Season 1 is titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

Audiences will get to see an all new group! With David Schwimmer (of Friends fame) as Anthony, a single dad! Anthony takes his twins, Devin (Sam McCarthy) and Cece (Jayden Bartels), to Brooklyn for the summer where things take a dark turn. The new friends that are added include Alex, CJ and Frankie, all finding themselves embroiled in a mystery of a group of four missing teenagers who all vanished way back in 1994. Get ready, there's nothing like some fun Halloween viewing and Disney+ might give the right spooky scares but later than many expected! It's possible though, and the show will keep audiences invested. There's a lot more to unpack in "Goosebumps Season 2" which makes its arrival all the more exciting!

A Missed Opportunity?

It looks like Disney+ didn't quite nail the perfect time. While releasing it closer to the holiday may have been expected, given it's in the works right now it was just too ambitious! So audiences should appreciate Disney+ trying to create something new!

Even with the missed opportunity to have it in October for Halloween 2024 the delay may be a good thing! For a new and fresh storyline to have the best execution it means Disney+ needed to use some time!
