Former Darkseid servant Barda is among the few who managed to flee. Raised on Apokolips under the vicious Granny Goodness, one of Darkseid's Female Furies Among Darkseid's elite troops, the Female Furies are one of only the best and most lethal ones. Leading the Furies, Barda fell in love with Scott Free, the future Mister Miracle, and teamed him in fleeing Darkseid and Apokolips. Equipped with her MegaRod, Barda transforms on Earth into a hero akin to her beloved and formerly belonged to the Justice League.
Jack "King" Kirby started Barda. Barda battled as a hero on Earth with Scott and the Justice League. Since Tom King and Mitch Gerard's Mister Miracle was completed, Scott has not appeared in the DC Universe. Barda, meanwhile, battles on and lately joined the newest Birds of Prey incarnation. Barda has been a benefit to her new colleagues trading in the League for the Birds, but as Birds of Prey #10 shows, she could also be a threat. Barda might have physically fled Apokolips, but the emotional traumas Granny Goodness caused linger.
These emotional scars still need healing, so Barda is harmful. Barda made quick work of the other Birds of Prey, and fortunately did not kill any of them. Though Barda passes straight through Black Canary, Cassandra Cain, Zealot, and other members of The Birds, a strong squad. Luckily Barda did not use her MegaRod, which may have made things far worse. She demonstrated she has what it takes to almost single-handedly destroy the Justice League even if she was not under Darkseid's control in Birds of Prey #10.

Thanks to her dark abilities, one of Darkseid's ex-minions still seriously threatens the Justice League. Darkseid, Lord of Apokolips, has apparently limitless henchmen and goons at hand, including Kalibak and Desaad. A handful have abandoned Darkseid, nevertheless, and made it out from the Fire Pits of Apokolips. Now in Birds of Prey #10 one of them releases their full, dark potential.
Kelly Thompson wrote Birds of Prey #10; Robbi Rodriguez and Gavin Guidry drew it. Before reaching one bizarrely modeled after 1950s America, the Birds of Prey—including Barda—are warping across other realms. Barda chooses to hide in this world, but she gets infected by an extradimensional entity fragment of Maia.
Now under its control, Barda turns into a ferocious machine that can readily rip through Black Canary and the other Birds of Prey.
But Barda's thinking is strong; she can separate Maia's effect off.
Furious warrior feared throughout the DC Universe, Orion just had the ideal team-up with an unexpected Justice League member.
Barda might have physically escaped Apokolips, but the mental scars Granny Goodness left upon her still show. Orion's relationship to Apokolips implies that he is a master in Darkseid's techniques, especially Granny Goodness's cruel instruction.
