Before Season 4 in New Video, the Boys' New Leader Talks on Team Situation
In a humorous season 4 video, the new team captain for The Boys, Marvin T. "Mother's" Milk (a.k.a. M.M.), is laying some ground rules for the titular group. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) first created and oversaw the team, but his lies, secrets, and self-serving decisions have often taxed the group. The last straw was his choice to work with Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and lie about V24, which caused his lads to choose M.M. as a new capable leader.
M.M. seemed to be embracing his position as team captain in The Boys Season 4 in a new video from their official Twitter page. As M.M. reveals five new rules for the staff on Post-It notes, petty cash requests, file keeping, weapon checking out, and workplace cleanliness, the video emphasizes his exacting organizing abilities. As he says, "Five simple rules," he is obviously claiming his authority even if his guidelines seem a bit funny. Simple is how And you can eat my d--k if you find it objectionable. M.M. also especially targets Butcher, stressing the fresh leadership shift.
What M.M.'s leadership means for the fourth Boys Season?
The fourth season video for The Boys hints at the upheaval the vigilante squad will encounter approaching the new episodes. After losing his stepson and dealing with V24's deadly consequences, Butcher also lost his squad; M.M. has been appointed leader. Given M.M. has always been a naturally born leader with his intelligence, loyalty, and composure-keeping skills, the option makes sense. Butcher is well-known for not letting his personal grudges interfere with the team's welfare, even if he also has a cause to resent the Supes that wrecked his family.
Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) notes in the The Boys season 4 teaser wants to turn over a fresh leaf with the gang. Fed up with the violence, he advises the team to start behaving somewhat more human with M.M. in command; wishes like Hughie's may indeed have some influence. But the leadership transition might potentially cause a power struggle between M.M. and Butcher, which would be troublesome. Butcher is still in the picture and shows the squad an unhinged scheme to infect every Supes with a fatal virus.
The Boys: Viewpoint on the Series
Eric Kripke created The Boys as a superhero/dark comic book satire series using the same-named comic book line. The show is set in a "what-if" universe honoring superheroes as gods or celebrities with little repercussions for their actions. One squad of vigilantes under the guidance of a vengeance-obsessed man named Billy Butcher will fight back against these super-charged "heroes," therefore exposing them for what they are.
The sitcom has become beloved by audiences, which fuels great enthusiasm about the regular caustic comedy and storyline shocks across every season. The Boys has also got lot of favorable reviews. Among the various reasons the program is so popular is its capacity to creatively address issues of corruption, power, and the human condition.
The Boys's Future
M.M. is assuming leadership over the lads, but it's not obvious whether he can persuade them to select his approach over Butcher's. With the former looking ready to give up on his pal after so many betrayals and disappointments, the Boys' season 3 ending also left M.M. and Butcher in somewhat a difficult situation. Perhaps as the two struggle for the boys' allegiance, the conflict between them could intensify rather than atonement. In the end, it will be fascinating to observe how under M.M.'s direction The Boys' titular squad operates.
On June 13, Prime Video hosts the fourth Boys season premiere.
