The Series Finale for *Station 19* had a fitting end.
The character ends for Andy and Jack fit for what they had gone through during the episode; the former notably earned a high-ranking post for all her work. But Maya takes leadership of the firehouse in a flash forward sequence, so they are not the only ones who wind up with appropriate finishes. Ben also confirms his happy life with Miranda and finishes his surgical residency, a hint of his possible * Grey's Anatomy* season 21 return likewise. Though most of the characters probably won't return, it was a suitable finale with optimism for the future.
The show's finale also collects the Grey's Anatomy world, which now is a single series devoid of any continuous spinoffs. This raises the possibility of Ben and Carina returning on the program, but it also lowers the possibility of other significant characters returning. Given the flash forward sealed the destinies of many of the series' characters, it seems improbable the flagship show will be centered much on closing the distance. That does not make future returns impossible, though.
Showrunners for *Station 19* Discuss the ending of Season 7.
The last episode had the squad battling a sizable wildfire, trying to control its effects while simultaneously shielding the Seattle area. Though Kate is dead at the end of *Station 19* Season 7, the last scenes of the episode give the show a happy, hopeful finale for its ongoing characters.
Variance asked Zoanne Clack and Paige why some characters ended up where they did in the series finale. The pair discussed how the decisions turned out and why particular character decisions—like Andy becoming Battalion Chief and meeting with Jack—were made. The Finish of Station 19

An Inheritable Legacy
Still, *Station 19* provides closure that completes the story in an optimistic manner by allowing characters from Andy to Jack a proper finale to their journeys. Some possible returnees, like Ben, could provide life updates about the rest of the group to other characters even if many players would live their lives offscreen from now on. Though this chapter of the series is drawing to an end, it ends in a way worthy the hopeful conclusion it richly merits.

Storyline Choice
Zoanne Clack: We argued a lot about [the last scene] and I suppose we came to some sort of compromise. Like a Norman Lear project, I really wanted to see the firehouse empty with the lights out. Peter was truly advocating [something that revealed] their survival and upward movement. Given that it seemed like the end of her path, both of us wanted her to be Chief. She has embraced this captain journey over the season and will go on. She will continue to fight fires and for career longevity, hence we included them all and created that amazing walk-out-into-the-sunlight scene.
Peter Paige: We did that for this among other reasons. We wanted to investigate this story, one which these shows seldom cover. Though it's not a lifetime career, it is one of passion. It's discussed a lot in ballerinas, but firefighters go through it as well. Given many firemen have limited shelf life, I felt it important to ask: How does this happen? What happens to them and how do they emotionally handle it? With Jack this season, we were aiming exactly in this direction.
And when Jaina came up to us, we were talking about her career ends when we then started talking about her personal ones. She asked, "I mean...Jack?" And we responded, "Jack!" When we found it out, we felt like, "Oh, that's rather fulfilling." And one of the most satisfying creative experiences of my career came from working out our historical route. We were talking with Zo, and one person would say, "Oh, this!" And the other would exclaim, "Oh, this!" We broke it down; I was like, OK, let me check the tape to see if we could really shoot this. I simply find it so exciting and satisfying; Andy is figuring out it's always been Jack, then they are holding hands and he says she won never be alone. Even merely her observation, Jack's chili surpasses Dean's. You say just that if you are in love.
