The most remarkable Force capability of Darth Plagueis was his capacity to generate life by controlling midi-chlorians. He could also help those he loved not die. Palpatine hinted to these skills in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, but James Luceno's Legend book examined them more thoroughly. Darth Plagueis Plagueis' midi-chlorian manipulation in the book was linked to Anakin Skywalker's Chosen One creation. The book also indicated that decades of work with the evil side helped Plagueis avoid death.
To tempt Anakin to the dark side, palpatine merely told him what he wanted to hear. Focusing on Plagueis' capacity to stop death, palpatine was playing on Anakin's anxiety of losing his wife, Padmé. But he withheld from Anakin the other experiments Plagueis had carried out in search of galactic supremacy and immortality.
Plagueis did a range of dark side experiments in Legends. Though he finally failed, he tried to design a virus cutting off the Jedi's link to the Force. He also worked on making other people's wills into obedient agents and underwriting their control. By learning the language of the midi-chlorians, Plagueis aimed toward immortality.
Currently non-canon are Dmit Plagueis's experiments and his illness. Many fans, however, think that the ideas the Legends book presents—such as Plagueis's capacity to control midi-chlorians—have bearing on the Star Wars universe. The recent arrival of Plagueis in the Star Wars: The Acolyte series points to Lucasfilm's possible openness to include components of his story into the canon.
In his quest of immortality, Darth Plagueis set out distinct from other Sith Lords. Most Sith Lords aimed to live by either spirit transference or by emptying the energies of others. These strategies failed a lot of times. But Plagueis aimed for actual immortality by learning to fundamentally manipulate the Force.
Future Star Wars projects might feature more of DHCP in view. The Acolyte's ending and the allusion to his midi-chlorian manipulation in other recent Star Wars films point to Lucasfilm's desire in delving deeper on his character and dark side experimentation. The future for Darth Plagueis is much awaited by fans.
