In the conclusion of Star Wars: Ahsoka's first season, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren found themselves stuck on Peridea, after a mission gone awry involving the rescue of Ezra Bridger. Ahsoka and Sabine, in a sudden switcheroo, traded places with the menacing Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra. Ahsoka was not seen rushing to escape this planet in the first season, which suggests that she might plan to return to the main galaxy in Season 2 to fight Thrawn. This poses the question, 'how could Ahsoka leave the planet?' and what a Star Wars fan has uncovered provides an engaging theory, especially given how the Star Wars world frequently has crazy twists and turns!
Fans have been pondering Ahsoka's next step since Season 1 concluded. Peridea, being full of Force energy, was originally chosen as Ezra's exile site years earlier. It appears as if the planet has a close link to the Force thanks to its inhabitants and the appearance of the statues of the Mortis Gods. Mortis Gods were revealed in a plot point of the Clone Wars animated series, featuring beings that control the balance, light side, and dark side of the Force. Considering these factors, it seems as though Peridea has a super powerful Force connection.
The Mortis Gods, from the Clone Wars era, are extremely powerful Force users and they've been woven together with Ahsoka’s stories. Ahsoka and Sabine just might get some major plot help from these ancient creatures, who are also linked to Ahsoka’s past as a character in a major arc! Dave Filoni, the creator, and a lot of other Star Wars heads love linking the Clone Wars, Rebels, and now Ahsoka! It makes me wonder if they will pull off more "secret connection" scenes - it would be crazy cool, wouldn't it? The show also shows up a really interesting concept - The World Between Worlds, or, the “Vergence Scatter". The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker visual dictionary makes it pretty clear – The World Between Worlds connects all of the crazy Force locations with each other! This means Ahsoka, a master of the Force and a expert in the World Between Worlds, could take advantage of it and get back home.
Let's rewind for a second: remember that awesome Mortis arc in the Clone Wars animated series? Ahsoka had a really interesting run-in with those deities. It may come up in Season 2 and really shake things up with those plot connections to a universe that is even more powerful than those creatures who are literally responsible for the Balance, the Dark side, and the Light side. This is serious, y’know? You don't just ignore ancient, superpowered Force deities without expecting some serious chaos!
Given the way things worked out with the World Between Worlds and the fact that it’s all about linking up those super Force locations – like a galactic party line, only it’s for Force energy – we could be looking at a scenario where Ahsoka takes advantage of Peridea's power and bounces right back to the main galaxy. She’s seen the World Between Worlds before, too, and even did some super Force-y stuff during those travels. She might even get to use her connection to the Force in new, amazing ways. We’re talking a real galaxy-hopping adventure – like Star Wars on steroids.
We're still guessing, of course! What this really means? Well, it could open up the story in some crazy ways – maybe we’ll see Ahsoka jump to another Force nexus in a way that leads us directly to a crazy new character or something mind-bending! Maybe this entire experience was intended by Filoni and will allow Ahsoka to have an easier route back! And how did Sabine Wren end up in this mess, you're probably thinking? I'm pretty sure Ahsoka would not leave Sabine stranded. These are a formidable duo!
As far as fan expectations go, Ahsoka Season 2 will also be all about saving Ezra. You can't really ditch your padawan in the midst of a Force explosion and just leave them be! Remember those Sith that Ahsoka was worried about getting into Ezra's head back in season one? Well, you know how a whole lot of those stories work out in Star Wars. There could be more darkness on that planet too.
It is certain that fans are on edge about how those themes will unfold throughout the next season, given all those Nightsisters of Dathomir running around! Their lore, magic, and the dark side, they will surely provide more reasons to be thrilled for the future of the Star Wars galaxy! So while Ahsoka's return home is certainly a huge point of curiosity for us all, we’ve also got to see how that storyline pans out with Sabine, Thrawn, and the ultimate fate of Ezra Bridger. We might see this series, as many Star Wars series tend to do, tie in more with all of the Force locations – think a return of the Mortis Gods or even the nightsisters from Dathomir - a galaxy far far away! This season could really tie up the rest of Ahsoka’s universe. So buckle up – because season 2 looks like it’s going to be epic!
