Although the rest of the cast is eager to return, Kurt Russell's earlier remarks on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 were more subdued, implying that Shaw's storyline concluded satisfactorially in season 1 finale. Given the character either killed after falling off the Operation Hourglass car or left alone in the middle of the confrontation between Godzilla and the Ion Dragon in Axis Mundi, justifying Shaw's comeback in the next season would need rather some justification.
Should creator Chris Black find a way to accomplish this, though, it would present a special opportunity for both Russells to share the screen in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2. As shown multiple times in season 1, particularly with regard to Shaw, Axis Mundi often causes time-bending events including Keiko and Lee living much past their years when imprisoned there. Though two copies of a character coexisting in one area have not yet been seen, season 2 could open this avenue for the Monsterverse to investigate in next projects.

Incorporating various well-liked characters into the show, the writers of it have gone all out to replicate the attractiveness and attitude of the MonsterVerse. Viewers want to know what fresh characters the show will feature as well as how it will turn out.
If Shaw made it through the events of the season 1 finale, it would make sense for him to have flashbacks of his life, which is typical of fiction, and so see himself interacting with the younger version of himself while considering their mistakes and how to atone in the present. This might therefore also build a bridge for Russell to engage in upcoming Monsterverse episodes for which Apple is allegedly producing other offshoots.
