Senshi's Backstory Creates Delectable Darkest Story Yet for Dungeon's Development
Delicious in Dungeon episode #23, "Griffin Soup/ Dumplings -1-," carried on the tale of Senshi and his former mining team finding the dungeon years before it showed on the surface. Senshi followed the rest of the group despite his reservations as their obsession with gold almost captivated them and they ran across a griffin who slaughtered one of them in cold-blooded murder. Senshi and his friends were compelled into hiding as the griffin slaughtered each one of them one by one since the dungeon had moved and taken away their escape when they tried to leave.
Eventually, the mining crew reduced to Senshi and two others—all of whom were famished. The others battled about Senshi out of view from him once, but only one returned and said the griffin killed the other before he killed the griffin. Before the other dwarf vanished, Senshi ate a bowl of griff soup; in the years that followed, Senshi lived in terror of the thought that he was compelled to eat one of his friends to survive, even though Laios would later find that Senshi had consumed a hippogriff turned griff soup.
What Senshi's Backstory Shows About Himself & Delicious In Dungeon, Overall?
Senshi's background is quite sinister and speaks much about Senshi and Delicious in Dungeon, overall. Though Delicious in Dungeon episode #23 makes it clear that Senshi's attitude about food was to make sure no one would be in the same position he was in: starving and possibly reduced to cannibalism, Senshi's insistence on keeping good eating habits—mostly in terms of having a proper diet—had always been taken for laughs. That brilliantly captures Senshi's character and does so in the most tragic of terms as well.
Senshi's past helps to further the mythology around the dungeon as well. Laios's party have had vastly different experiences with the dungeon than other parties throughout the series, and Senshi claims that this is because the dungeon in Delicious responds unfavorably to people loaded with greed, therefore augmenting Kabru's observations on the dungeon being sentient. Though Senshi's past was as Dark as it was, it brilliantly developed the characters and general narrative of Netflix's Delicious in Dungeon, and generally, this is another reason why the writing in the series has only gotten stronger with every episode.
Perfect in Dungeon: Revealed Backstory
One of the most mysterious characters in Delicious in Dungeon has always been Senshi, the Touden party resident chef. Although he mainly provided comic relief, it was strange that he knew so much about cooking monsters; as episode #22 notes, he claimed to have spent ten years in the dungeon, even though the dungeon only surfaced six years earlier.
Senshi's character has always been very enigmatic, and Delicious in Dungeon has at last dug into his past. Senshi quickly becomes one of the most sad characters in all of Delicious in Dungeon by addressing the greatest riddles regarding his character and also clarifying some aspects of the greater lore.
exploring the deliciousness
Though Delicious in Dungeon has shockingly gloomy overtones overall, so the narrative is significantly deeper than most people would have expected from Senshi; this is a major part of why it works so well.
The show falls under Dark comedy. The creators of the series do not hesitate to embrace the darker sides of the plot as it develops; they succeed without sacrificing the cheerful character of the show.
