Robert Englund Wants to Return as Freddy Krueger - But Only in an Animated 'Nightmare on Elm Street'

It's been a while since we saw Freddy Krueger on screen. A big name in horror, and no stranger to bringing the fright. Robert Englund has graced the big screen for ages. In fact, he appeared as Freddy in every movie (from 1984- 1994, that is), except the 2010 remake! He loved that role but does that mean he wants to be Freddy Krueger again?

Returning as Freddy Krueger

The amazing news is, maybe!

Fans want to see Freddy Krueger return, so they want to see Englund, take the big step to be back in his signature role.

Englund's Conditions

The man behind Freddy had to put in his two cents. It really might be just the way to get this scary story out for an entirely new audience. Englund had to say that because of his age he wasn't able to give a big, bold performance on-screen. So if there was any opportunity for this slasher classic to come back, it would have to be as an animated film. He made it super clear, that was his way back as Freddy.

There is something really unique to this move. And to add more context, Englund shared what happened! In the early days of "Nightmare on Elm Street," Englund explained his condition.

As his role in the horror franchise may be coming to an end, in a sense! What Englund may really hope is for a different format!

  • He stated, he couldn't perform those fight scenes! In a very clever way, it sounds like those roles took a real toll on the body.
  • There's a reason why so many movie stars move towards the big world of voice acting.
  • Englund is really happy with those types of projects and said that he would even be willing to give Freddy Krueger a new voice in an animated production.

A scary prospect! What could make these even more entertaining? This has always been an iconic character in these classic films and "Nightmare On Elm Street," is no different!

There's nothing worse than those sequels that fall flat. The last reboot that fans got in 2010 left a bad taste in people's mouths. While the horror genre always has some great moments, and it seems fans might have had their fill of seeing Jackie Earle Haley in those big, bold scary roles.

A great idea might be to use an animated style. For sure this has proven to be popular with films such as Prime Video's "Invincible" and "Hazbin Hotel,

And what could add another dose of entertainment is bringing some of those other popular series as well, such as "Arcane", which is from Netflix and "Harley Quinn from Max,.

  • There are so many different ideas that this series has gone through including a revival in both television and the world of movies. The ideas that made it so exciting, with Englund joining as part of the project as Freddy Krueger. It looks like all of those things didn't come together.

However, we may see a huge return from the original films but now in an entirely different style that looks like the future of the "Nightmare On Elm Street" series!

As this movie got the go-ahead. Even "Nightmare on Elm Street" might get a chance for new audiences! The creative director Mike Flanagan is in talks for a potential project.

And those who have watched "The Haunting of Hill House", might realize how incredibly well done and a masterpiece this show has been. "The Haunting of Bly Manor" really proved the depth and intensity of this series.

And for fans of the genre, there's another show "Midnight Mass" that will leave viewers terrified.

So the possibility of him working on the new project with a franchise such as "Nightmare On Elm Street," would mean big, awesome moments for audiences everywhere!
