Staff of Superman's Daily Planet: Examining the DCU's Newest Team
Prepare to meet the whole Daily Planet crew! James Gunn's forthcoming Superman film boasts an outstanding cast, and we are seeing glimpses of the legendary reporters and team members who will be influencing Clark Kent's life.
Superman is rebooting the Dc Universe, thus the Man of Steel has a completely different crew! Fresh faces for important figures in Clark Kent's life will abound in the new movie. Although we have seen several of the performers playing these roles, the buzz for the big screen reveal is growing.
Things are getting ramped up in the last month of Superman filming! Working with the movie, artist Jobhutz revealed a remarkably realistic Superman painting featuring the whole Daily Planet crew in the Dc Universe iteration.
Set images and video clips have shown us peeks of the Daily Planet. Though the team gathering in one location is rather epic, we have a great view of the performers inhabiting these roles.
Staff Daily Planet:
Our current roster is as follows:
David Corenswet as Kent Clark
Lois Lane by Rachel Brosnahan
Jimmy Olsen performed by Skyler Gisondo
Perry White was performed by Wendell Pierce.
Mik Elena Hoover as Cat Grant
Steve Lombard's Beck Bennett
Ron Troupe performed by Christopher McDonald
The revealed new Superman suit is looking sharp. We're ready to delve deeply into Clark's fresh live-action style.
Why is the Daily Planet such significant?
Although we enjoy seeing Superman kick butt, Clark Kent's life revolves heavily on the Daily Planet, which introduces important characters like Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen into the mix. According to the set pictures and casting announcements, the well-known news source will be central in the narrative. Seeing Clark strike a balance between his life as a reporter and his life as the Man of Steel as well as his relationships with people like Lois and Jimmy will be interesting.
Smallville and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman are two past Superman live-action TV shows and films that have given The Daily Planet opportunity to shine. It's fantastic that the DCU will delve deeper on this; seeing the close relationships between Clark and the Daily Planet staff was interesting and moving. Seeing characters like Ron Troupe and Cat Grant getting their cinematic moment following past Superman episodes excites me especially.
Imagine how awesome it would be to see the Daily Planet staff develop in next DC Universe films and TV shows. DC Studios could make great use of them in many diverse contexts, outside of Superman. Picture them engaging with the Gotham Gazette staff! Once Superman finishes shooting, we will have to wait and see what James Gunn has in store for us. The movie is just one year away from theatres, and the first teaser trailer should be dropping shortly.
The first movie Warner Bros. rebuilt DC Universe is Superman, which centers on the Man of Steel. Following the character's roots as "the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way," it presents a fresh Superman after Henry Cavill resigned from the part.
