Willy's Wonderland: A Game Turned Movie
Though it's nothing like the Five Nights At Freddy's games thought to inspire Willy's, the Nic Cage-led Willy's Wonderland movie has its own Video Game. Though its director, G.O Parsons, said any similarities were merely accidental and it was inspired by restaurants like Chuck E. Cheese, with the original idea coming about in 2015 just before the first FNAF game was released - but with one key difference: Nic Cage's silent janitor could fight back against the deadly animatronic creatures that thought they were hunting him, resulting in an array of violent carnage.
Brazilian developer QU Byte Interactive has turned the idea behind Willy's Wonderland into a 2.5D side-scrolling beat 'em game. Players of the new game can control either The Janitor or Liv, a teenage set on burning down the animal-themed eatery, or team up in local co-op to play as both. Although all the animatronics from the movie—including Tito Turtle, Siren Sara, Arty Alligator, Cammy Chameleon, and Willy Weasel—will also be commanding new hordes of terrible entities for the humans to combat.
Though Willy's Wonderland is Extremely Different, Shareings Similarities to FNAF's Premise
It makes logical that the tie-in game for the Willy's Wonderland movie and game would follow the same pattern since it deviates from the Five Nights at Freddy's series by having its human protagonist able to hold their own against the mechanical threats. Whereas the original Five Nights At Freddy's games were point-and-click survival titles in which players would assume the role of a night security guard using monitors to figure out where the killer animatronics could attack from, this wouldn't have made much sense in the world of Willy's Wonderland.
While working, the Janitor of Willy's Wonderland would investigate the restaurant more freely and help it to be once more beautiful. He would spend pauses playing pinball and drinking sodas instead of serving as guard; at one time he would even burst into dance. Therefore, although it does lose some of the horror elements of the film by having the human characters take on the animatronics with ease using special tactics and strong powers, the idea of more of a beat 'em down title does make sense for the movie tie-in.
