The 2025 Return of Captain America Will Make an X-Men Insult Hard to Ignore
Brave New World will be Sam Wilson's debut Mcu film as the titular hero; it also makes one noteworthy insult aimed at the hero in X-Men '97 tougher to ignore than it was previous. Although Steve Rogers's presence in X-Men '97 delighted viewers, Rogue disagreed with the hero and started to criticize the Marvel legend. Steve Rogers' MCU arc did not fit this, but Sam Wilson's narrative is set up to go another path.
A popular symbol during World War II, Captain America's significance was progressively called into doubt, particularly following the Vietnam War, when the more anti-authority antiheroes emerged. The Mcu chronicle examined the hero's conflicted role between representing the US military and a person with personal typically anti-authority views and values. Sam is supposed to carry on this conceptual legacy of the movies now that he is taking the mantle; but, for at least the time being his current narrative seems set to meet Rogue's insult a little more closely.
X-Men '97 Designed Captain America's Next MCU Arc A Year Early
Rogue dismissively labels one of Marvel's most iconic heroes, "America's Top Cop," in X-Men '97, episode 7. The comment from Rogue in X-Men '97 betrays Steve's fervent struggle for the freedom of heroes as well as his opposition of the misuse of Captain America. Steve indeed exhibits the Captain America mentality throughout the later phases of his MCU trilogy, constantly leading with integrity as a hero and transcending mere establishment tool.
Looking at the MCU, though, Sam Wilson seems to be collaborating with the government to assemble a new Avengers squad, which makes Rogue's statements somewhat more off-target. Based on previews of the film, which feature Thunderbolt Ross - now Harrison Ford - in a presidential role and issue Captain America instructions as such, suggesting this will be the plotline that runs through the movie in many respects. Still, there's a definite possibility Sam Wilson may follow Steve Rogers' method and discover his own route.
Why Sam Wilson Isn't America's Top Cop
Steve's portrayal in the MCU would have severely devalued Rogue's moniker, but Sam's Cap ages it even more.
Sam Wilson's MCU path found him routinely in conflict with the government he would serve. His position as the first Black Captain America drives a lot of that. Though Sam's discovery of Isaac Bradley's mistreatment at the hands of the US government because of similar prejudices plays a key role in him accepting the hero mantle, the second episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier featured an altercation between Sam and a police officer implying prejudiced behavior towards Sam, independent of his hero status. As thus, Sam's Cap ages even worse while Steve's MCU portrayal devalued Rogue's nickname greatly. John Walker's presence more suits the term since Walker is the embodiment of a militant Cap that mindlessly follows orders. Sam, on the other hand, chastises American government officials for their responsibility for the violent outbursts of the Flag Smashers since the former's laws deprived the group. Captain America: Brave New World would more naturally allow Sam to unquestionably prove he is not "America's Top Cop," given Wilson takes up the mantle in part to reclaim what it represents from Walker's time besmirching it.
Captain America 4: Traveling Sam Wilson's Path
Brave New World (originally titled New World Order) features Sam Wilson's debut MCU big-screen performance as Steve Rogers's successor following earning the suit and shield in Phase 4's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Along with Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumby as Isaiah Bradley, and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, former ally of The Incredible Hulk, Anthony Mackie returns as the title Avenger. Harris Ford replaces late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross in his MCU debut.
Brave New World is poised to follow Sam Wilson's path as he negotiates the complexity of the contemporary world and deals with Steve Rogers' legacy. The movie is supposed to cover issues of social fairness, political control, and the obligations of a hero in a modern society. Captain America: Brave New World is looking to be a major addition to the MCU with a great cast and a gripping concept.
